The Line Chart Dashboard card is a custom card available in our Dashboard feature that allows you to visualize changes to data over time.
What you'll need
- Line Chart cards are available on the Business Plan and above.
- The Dashboards ClickApp is enabled in every new Workspace by default. A Workspace owner or admin can disable the ClickApp.
- Line Chart card data can be exported.
- Guests can be invited to specific Dashboards with view-only permissions.
Create or edit a Line Chart card
Line Charts are time-based. Time-based cards work differently than non-time-based cards.
The options chosen when creating the card determine the data reported and how it displays on your Line Chart.
The data displayed on cards depends on the locations you select and the availability and use of features. For example:
- To use Custom Fields on the x-axis, the Custom Field must be added to each selected Space, Folder, or List. For data to be displayed, at least one task in the selected locations must have a value set in the Custom Field.
- To use sprint points on the y-axis, the Sprint Points ClickApp must be enabled at the Space level for each selected Space, Folder, or List. For data to be displayed, at least one task in the selected locations must have sprint points set.
To create a Line Chart card:
Create a new or open an existing Dashboard.
- From a new Dashboard, click + Add card. From the Add card modal, select Custom, then Line Chart. Configure your card settings.
- From the upper-left corner of an existing Dashboard, enable Edit mode. Then hover over the upper-right corner of the Dashboard and click the Settings icon. From the Edit card modal, edit your card settings.
Configure or edit the following card settings:
Name: You can name your card or rename it later.
Location: Choose which Space, Folder, and List data to include in the Dashboard. You can also select all locations.
Time range: This setting includes two dropdowns that determine the period of time the chart reports on.
-
This dropdown: Select a time range for the x-axis from the following options:
- This year, This month, or This week: Select a time range of this year, month, or week.
- Choose rolling period: Select a relative time range between 1 and 365 days. The card will automatically continue to report on that same range of time.
- Range: Select a custom range of dates.
By dropdown: Select a time range for the y-axis data points from the following options:
- By days, by weeks, by months: Select to view y-axis data by day, week, or month for the time range selected in the This dropdown.
You will only be able to select time range combinations that make sense. For example, This week and by months would not be possible.
Y Axis: Determines the data point for your y-axis. Choose from the following:
- Tasks: Include tasks.
- Time Estimate: Include Time Estimates.
- Average age of tasks: Include the average age of tasks.
- Sprint points: Include Sprint points.
- Custom Fields: Select a Custom Field. Dropdowns, for example.
Group by: Determines how your y-axis data points are organized.
For example, when the y-axis is Tasks and the group by option is Status each status will be displayed as a separate line. Each data point on the line will reflect the number of tasks that were in that status on that date.
- None: The default.
- Status: Include only tasks set with a certain status. Use if you have multiple custom statuses set up for each status type.
- Status type: Include only tasks set with one or more of the four status types.
- Task type: Include only a specific custom task type.
- Tag: Select one or more task tags.
- Assignee: Select one or more assignees with tasks in the locations.
- Priority: Select one or more task Priorities.
- Custom Fields: Select a Custom Field. Dropdowns, for example.
Stacked: Instead of lines with data points, the chart displays as a stacked area chart. Each color-coded area will add to the total y-axis value.
Include subtasks: Include subtasks in the chart data.
Include archived: Include archived tasks in the chart data.
Show closed: Include closed tasks in your data.
Include tasks in Multiple Lists: Include Tasks in Multiple Lists. If you include locations that have Tasks in Multiple Lists, those tasks will be included for each location and will impact the values present in your chart.
Show changes from day to day (instead of actual values): Display the difference day by day, rather than the value selected in the y-axis and other options listed above.
For example, your data includes 0 tasks in progress on Monday, 5 tasks in progress on Tuesday, and 3 tasks in progress on Wednesday. The Line Chart card displays a value of 5 for Tuesday and -2 for Wednesday.
Task Filter: Use filters to further refine the data.
Click Add card to create or update the Line Chart.
