Sprint Burndown cards (Legacy)

Burndown cards are a type of Sprint card available for Dashboards. Burndown cards let you create a visual representation of your project's progress. It highlights the amount of work left in your project and how long it will take to complete that work.
Our new Sprint Burndown cards offer improved accuracy and performance! Existing Sprint cards and legacy Burndown cards are still available.

Custom Sprint Durations cannot be used with legacy Sprint Dashboard cards. If you need to use Custom Sprint Durations with Sprint reporting cards, switch to our new Sprint Velocity, Burnup, and Burndown cards.

Burndown legacy charts

In burndown charts, the y-axis represents the number of tasks in your project or sprint. The x-axis represents the amount of time in your project or sprint.

  • The blue line shows the amount of work remaining in your project.
  • The yellow line represents the current rate of progress.
  • The red line represents the ideal rate of progress based on the remaining time. If your tasks stay at or under the red line, it means you're on track to finish your project on time.
Once all tasks are complete, the blue line will hit zero, showing the project's end. Adding tasks to your project or sprint will cause an upward trend on your chart. Mark tasks as Done or Closed to see it reflected on your Burndown card the next day.

Add a Burndown (legacy) card

To add a Burndown (legacy) card:
  1. Create a new or open an existing Dashboard.
  2. In the upper right corner, click + Add card. 
  3. From the left sidebar, select Sprints.
  4. Click the Burndown (legacy) card.
  5. Configure your card settings.
  6. In the upper-right, click Add card.

Choose the data and appearance of your Burndown (legacy) card.

Display Show legend Show the color and value of each y-axis group by option.
X-Axis Measure

Burndown (legacy) cards always display task data over time. Learn more

The only option available for Burndown (legacy) cards is Time.
Time period

Include task data from the selected time range. Options include:

  • This year
  • This month
  • This week
  • Rolling period
  • Range

When using Sprints as the Source type, the only option is Set dates that align with the selected Sprints.
Group by

Display x-axis values in the selected time scale. Options include:

  • Days
  • Weeks
  • Months
Y-Axis


 		Measure

Options include:
Group by The only option available for Burndown (legacy) cards is Status Type.
Show The only option available for Burndown (legacy) cards is Active.
Filters Show archived

Include archived tasks.
Filter Apply filters to show tasks that currently meet the specified criteria.
