Tasks aren't very useful until they're organized. Let ClickUp handle the tediousness and sort your tasks with one click!
Sort Options
You can sort a List view by the following fields:
-
Start Date: Get ready for what's coming next.
-
Due Date: Stay on top of deadlines.
-
Priority: View tasks by importance.
-
Date Updated: See which tasks have recent activity.
-
Date Created: Arrange tasks by their age.
-
Date Closed: See when each task was completed.
-
Time Estimates: See tasks based on their weight.
-
Time Logged: See which tasks take the most time.
-
Assignees: Sort tasks by the number or name of the assignees.
- Assignees will be sorted by the number of assignees from highest to lowest. Tasks with individual assignees are sorted alphabetically (from A to Z or Z to A).
-
Status: Arrange and sort by status to condense tasks.
-
Custom Fields: Create a unique task field to set a value, budget, contact number, and more.
-
Task Name: Sort alphabetically.
Dragging and dropping tasks inside of a group is disabled when sorting tasks in List view.
Manually sort tasks in List view
When a List view is grouped by a specific field, you can drag and drop tasks into other groups to update them. ClickUp remembers the sort order for each individual grouping option. Click the sort arrow again to change the sort order.
You can also manually sort your tasks in List view when you're not grouping by a specific field.
To manually sort tasks:
- In the upper-left corner, click Group.
- To the right of the grouping option, click the delete icon.
- Drag and drop tasks to manually sort them.
Sort by Multiple Attributes
Find your most important tasks by sorting List view by multiple columns.
You can choose between sorting each group of tasks or sorting the whole column across groups.
Change the column sort order
When sorting multiple columns you can drag and drop columns to change the sort order. Choosing entire column will sort the entire view by that column.
- Click the column name to open the column menu.
- Drag and drop each sorted column to adjust the order.
Show and Hide Columns
In List View, you might not really care about Date created or a task's Priority. Remove unnecessary columns and clean up your view.
Your preferences for hiding columns are saved for each View, so you can use different settings without affecting all your Views.
You can also save each change to the view as you go, ensuring you can always come back and it will be exactly how you left it.
Additional column actions
-
Stay even more organized when you combine sorting with filtering!
