Use task duration to schedule tasks

Use task durations to spend less time planning and more time working!

Save time setting up tasks by entering two inputs: start date, due date, or duration, and let ClickUp calculate the rest!

Activate the Duration ClickApp

To activate the Duration ClickApp:
  1. Open the App Center.
  2. From the App Center's left sidebar, click Scheduling & Dates.
  3. Browse or search for the Duration ClickApp.
  4. Click the toggle to activate the Duration ClickApp.

Set duration on tasks

You can add or edit task duration from tasks:

  1. Open the task.
  2. Click the Dates field.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the modal, click the duration field.
  4. Type the task duration using weeks, days, hours, or minutes.

Set elapsed duration on tasks

To set elapsed task duration that includes weekends and non-working days:

  1. Open the task.
  2. Click the Dates field.
  3. Either:
    • Set the due date to a Saturday or Sunday.
    • In the duration field, type then the duration, for example: e10d

Convert durations

You can convert an existing duration between elapsed and non-elapsed durations.

From the duration field on tasks:

  • Click the Skip non-working days toggle.
  • Or, set an updated duration.

Add the task duration field to views

When the Duration ClickApp is activated, the duration field can be added to views.

For example, you can add it as a column to a List view.

When the Duration ClickApp is deactivated, Workspace members will see the Duration field but they will not be able to add the field to views.
