Task statuses for Folders and Subfolders

By default, Folders inherit the task statuses of their parent Spaces and Subfolders inherit the task statuses of their parent Folder.

You can set unique statuses for your Folders and Subfolders if you need to differentiate your workflow statuses.

What you'll need

Set up Folder or Subfolder statuses

Mark your tasks with custom, color-coded statuses.

To set up custom Folder or Subfolder statuses:

  1. In your Home Sidebar or Spaces Sidebar, right-click the Folder or Subfolder. Or, hover over it and click the ellipsis ... icon.
  2. Select Task statuses.

  3. Select a status template, choose to inherit statuses, or create custom statuses.
  4. Click Add status under the various status groups to create new statuses. You can also click the ellipsis ... next to an existing status to rename it, change its color, or delete it.
  5. In the lower-right corner, click Apply changes.

Using a Board view at the Folder or Subfolder level will show the statuses of all the Lists inside the Folder or Subfolder, even if they are different from the Folder or Subfolder's statuses.

Change a Folder or Subfolder's statuses from a task

You can change a Folder or Subfolder's statuses from a task if the task's parent List inherits its statuses from the Folder or Subfolder.

To change a Folder or Subfolder's statuses from a task:

  1. Open a task.
  2. Underneath the task name, click the status name.
  3. Click the ellipsis ... icon and select edit statuses.
  4. From the Edit statuses menu, add or edit a status.

Conflicting statuses

If you move a task to a Folder or Subfolder that doesn't have the same statuses, you'll see a modal to convert your old task statuses to the new Folder or Subfolder's statuses.
