You can save and reuse statuses in Spaces, Folders, and Lists throughout your entire Workspace.
You can create new status templates in three instances:

When creating a new Space, Folder, or List.

When editing your statuses within an existing Folder or Space.

When editing a List.
Once you are viewing a Space, Folder, or List’s status settings, you'll be able to view the current status templates available to you. You can also create custom statuses.

Guests cannot edit statuses or use status templates.

Edit status templates
When you update an existing status template, the changes will only apply to the List, Folder, or Space where you are making changes. Other locations that use the same status template will no longer use the status template. They will keep their current statuses which will be labeled Custom.
To edit an existing status template:
- Hover over the Space, Folder, or List:
- In ClickUp 4.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Spaces section of your Home Sidebar and the Spaces Sidebar.
- In ClickUp 3.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Sidebar.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon or right-click the location.
- Select Task statuses or List statuses.
- Under Status template, select a template from the dropdown menu.
- Make changes to the template.
- In the lower-right of the modal, click Save template.
Create new status templates
To create a new status template:
- Hover over the Space, Folder, or List:
- In ClickUp 4.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Spaces section of your Home Sidebar and the Spaces Sidebar.
- In ClickUp 3.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Sidebar.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon or right-click the location.
- Select Task statuses or List statuses.
- Under Status template, click the dropdown menu.
- At the bottom of the modal, click New template.
- Name the template and click Save.
- Click Add status under the various status groups to create new statuses. You can also click the ellipsis ... next to an existing status to rename it, change its color, or delete it.
- In the lower-right corner, click Apply changes.
Apply status templates
You can apply status templates to Spaces, Folders, or Lists.
Apply status templates to Spaces
To apply a status template to a Space:
- Hover over the Space:
- In ClickUp 4.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Spaces section of your Home Sidebar and the Spaces Sidebar.
- In ClickUp 3.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Sidebar.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon or right-click the location.
- Select Task statuses.
- In the upper-left corner, click the Status template dropdown.
- Select the status template you want to apply.
- In the lower-right of the modal, click Apply changes.
- If statuses conflict, a modal will display for you to remap them.
Apply status templates to Folders
To apply a status template to a Folder:
- Hover over the Folder:
- In ClickUp 4.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Spaces section of your Home Sidebar and the Spaces Sidebar.
- In ClickUp 3.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Sidebar.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon or right-click the location.
- Select Task statuses.
- In the upper-left corner, you can choose to inherit statuses from the parent Space or use custom statuses.
- If you're using custom statuses, select the status template you want to apply and click Apply changes. If statuses conflict, a modal will display for you to remap them.
Apply status templates to Lists
To apply a status template to a List:
- Hover over the List:
- In ClickUp 4.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Spaces section of your Home Sidebar and the Spaces Sidebar.
- In ClickUp 3.0, the Hierarchy is located in the Sidebar.

- Select List statuses.
