What can I do with ClickUp AI?
- Generate personal standups and team updates.
- Ask AI questions from anywhere in ClickUp about the tasks, Docs, people, and Teams in your Workspace.
- Write with AI anywhere in ClickUp that accepts text.
How do I try ClickUp AI?
You can try AI for free on any plan!
An owner or admin must turn on the AI ClickApp to try AI. Your Workspace will get to try AI a certain number of times for free.
To try AI for free:
- Click your Workspace avatar.
- Select Apps then ClickApps.
- Try out ClickUp AI.
Can I add ClickUp AI to the Free Forever Plan?
You can try AI on the Free Forever Plan. To add AI to your Workspace, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
Try AI usage limits
When you try ClickUp AI before you purchase it, you have 100 uses of AI. Uses are per Workspace, not per person.
After you reach the usage limit, you'll need to purchase AI to continue using it.
What actions count as a use when trying AI?
When trying AI, any option that generates a response counts as a use.
For example:
- Write with AI
- Edit with AI
- Generate action items
- Try again
- Using Tell AI what to do next to reprompt AI
- Using Summarize in Docs, task comment threads, and Inbox comments
- Using AI /Slash Commands
Options that don't require a response after AI's initial response do not count as uses:
For example, Insert or Copy.
How do I add ClickUp AI to my Workspace?
ClickUp AI is an add-on feature.
Owners and admins can add ClickUp AI to their Workspace. You’ll be charged per month for each member and internal guest in your Workspace.
If your Workspace is on the Free Forever plan, an owner or admin will need to upgrade to a paid plan to add AI. After you select a paid plan, you'll have the option to add AI from your Billing page.
To purchase AI from a paid plan:
- Click your Workspace avatar.
- Select Settings, then Billing.
- At the top of the Billing page from the ClickUp AI modal, select Add-ons.
- In the ClickUp AI section, click Add to plan.
- From the Billing page, select Upgrade.
- AI is billed monthly or yearly according to the payment schedule your Workspace is on.
- The price will be prorated based on the time left until your next renewal date.
Can I purchase ClickUp AI for select members?
No. ClickUp AI is purchased per Workspace. The fee applies to all of your Workspace's members and internal guests.
What if I have an open member seat?
You have an open seat if you've removed a member in the middle of your billing cycle. When you purchase ClickUp AI you're charged for that seat, since a new member can fill the seat.
How do I cancel AI?
If you want to cancel your AI add-on, reach out to our Support team by clicking the chat bubble icon in the lower-right corner of your screen. Take a look at our Cancel ClickUp AI article for more info.
If you want to temporarily stop using AI in your Workspace instead, an admin or owner can turn off the AI ClickApp.
If you turn off the AI ClickApp you will still be billed for ClickUp AI.
How do I turn off ClickUp AI for my Workspace?
If ClickUp AI is turned on in your Workspace, an owner or admin can easily turn it off.
- Click your Workspace avatar.
- Select Apps then ClickApps.
- Browse or search for the AI ClickApp.
- Click the toggle to off.
If you turn off the AI ClickApp you will still be billed for ClickUp AI.
Will AI be available in all my Workspaces?
The ClickUp AI add-on is purchased for a single Workspace. If you have multiple Workspaces, you'll need to purchase AI for each of your Workspaces.
Is my data used to train any AI models?
ClickUp AI is not trained on data from your Workspace. We've also secured licensing with our partners to ensure they do not access your data for training purposes.
Which model are you using and which version?
We currently use the latest models from our partners including OpenAI and Anthropic. Our models are constantly updated to ensure the best possible performance.
Is my data sent to third-party providers outside of ClickUp?
When using our AI features we sometimes need to share certain data with our partners. When we do need to share data with our partners we ensure that only the necessary information is sent. Strict agreements with our partners ensure that your data is not used for training or retained in any capacity. It is deleted from their systems as soon as possible.

Does using Connected Search grant AI access to the connected applications?
ClickUp AI and Connected Search maintain the strict policies outlined in our Privacy and security article.
Set up Connected Search
You can set up Connected Search and AI to search any available app in the following way:
- Only apps that are supported by Connected Search can be searched by ClickUp AI.
- Only Workspace owners and admins can enable the Connected Search ClickApp.
- Each app needs to be individually enabled and connected.
You can choose what info is available to the people in your Workspace. These are the two types of connections:

Workspace connection: This connection must be set up by a Workspace owner or admin. With this connection, all users in the Workspace can search data in the connected apps via Connected Search and AI. Only data that is public to the entire Workspace can be accessed.
- Not all connected search apps support this type of connection.
- Private connection: This connection can be set up by anyone in your Workspace. It allows them to search their personal data. No one else in the Workspace can search or see data connected via a personal connection.
- All data that is searched is encrypted.
Where is our data hosted when using AI?
- ClickUp is hosted entirely on Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing a built-in suite of security and privacy features.
- Our team takes additional proactive measures to ensure a secure infrastructure environment.
- We've achieved SOC 2 compliance and ISO certifications.

Who owns the data inputted into ClickUp AI?

Does ClickUp AI respect the user's role and permissions when responding?
ClickUp AI has access to the same information as the person using it. AI can't reveal anything that person can't otherwise access.
Is ClickUp AI HIPAA compliant?
ClickUp AI is HIPAA compliant.
If you need a BAA agreement, you'll need to upgrade. Due to the regulatory and legal costs, BAA agreements are only issued for Enterprise users. BAA agreements are subject to certain limitations and restrictions.
