Start an import from Monday.com

Create your structure in ClickUp first. Create a Space or Spaces to house all of your Monday.com boards.

Then, import your Monday.com boards into the ClickUp Spaces you already created.

To start an import from Monday.com:

  1. In the upper-left corner, click your Workspace avatar and select Settings.
  2. In the All settings sidebar, select Imports / Exports.
    • If your Workspace doesn't have an import or export history, the Select source of import page opens. In the Import from apps section, select Monday.
    • If your Workspace has an import or export history, the Imports / Exports page opens. Select Import Items. On the Select source of import page, select Monday.
  3. Following the on-screen instructions, authorize ClickUp to import your items on Monday.com by copying the Personal API Token and inputting it into ClickUp.
    • If you don't have admin access, follow the instructions to copy your GraphQL API token. This allows you to import only the Monday.com data you have access to.

2. Import board statuses

Every Monday board is imported as a separate ClickUp List. You can choose what to use for the ClickUp statuses:

  • Groups as Statuses: The Monday board group names will be used as the statuses for the ClickUp List.
  • Status Column as Statuses: The Monday board's default status column will be used as the statuses for the ClickUp List. With this option, your board group names will not be imported into ClickUp.

3. Import users

Map Monday.com users to ClickUp users to preserve assignees, history, and item activity. If you don't map users, the data will still be imported, but will not be synced to a ClickUp user, and assignees that aren't mapped to ClickUp will not be preserved.

If you haven't already added users to ClickUp, select invite by email to invite and map automatically.

If you're done with your import and are ready to move stuff around, take advantage of our Bulk Action Toolbar.

How long does an import take?

Starting the import process generally takes 2 to 10 minutes. After you've confirmed the import, the actual importing time can vary between 1 minute to a few hours. This is entirely based on how much data you have in Monday.com, as well as Monday.com's rate limits.

Since Monday.com does rate-limit the import, we have to throttle the speed to ensure we don't hit the rate limit.

We'll send you an email as soon as your import is done!
