Import from Todoist

Create a Space or Spaces to house your Todoist projects and subprojects. Then, import your Todoist projects into the Spaces you've created.

Start an import from Todoist

To start an import from Todoist:

  1. In the upper-left corner, click your Workspace avatar and select Settings.

  2. In the All settings sidebar, click Imports / Exports. 

  3. Click Start Import.

  4. Select Todoist, then Continue.

  5. Log in to your Todist account.

Authorize ClickUp

When authorizing, an authorization pop-up displays. This permissions request must be accepted.

After authorizing ClickUp to import your Todoist data, you'll be presented with three steps.

Step 1: Import tasks

On the left side, you'll see all the projects from Todoist.

On the right side, you'll see how to map Todoist projects as ClickUp Folders. You will select the ClickUp Space into which you will place each Project/Folder.

You can import:

  • name
  • tags
  • priority
  • assignees
  • due date
  • date created
  • comments
  • subtasks

Due to Todoist limitations, we are unable to import attachments from Todoist.

Import projects 

  1. Choose which Todoist Projects you would like to import.

  2. Select a ClickUp Space for those Todoist Projects.

Step 2: Import people

Map Todoist users to ClickUp people to preserve assignees, history, and task activity. If you don't map people, the data will still be imported, but will not be synced to a ClickUp person. Assignees that aren't mapped to ClickUp will not be preserved.

If you haven't already invited people to ClickUp, select invite them and map automatically.

Step 3: Options

Import closed tasks from Todoist 

This option allows you to import all tasks or just open tasks into ClickUp. Generally, we recommend importing all of your tasks. 

If you're done with your import and ready to organize, take advantage of the Bulk Action Toolbar!

Import multiple Todoist accounts

To import more than one Todoist account into ClickUp:

  1. Open your Todoist account settings for the account you've already imported.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. Click the x to remove ClickUp from this Todoist account. Removing the integration will not remove any tasks that have already been imported!
  4. Set your other Todoist account the same way you set up the first.

How long does an import take? 

After you've confirmed the import, the actual importing time can vary between one minute and a few hours. This is entirely based on the amount of data you have in Todoist as well as Todoist's rate limits.
