External Agents, also known as app users, function similarly to people within a Workspace. They can be @mentioned in a task comment or assigned tasks.
What you'll need
- You can mention external AI Agents on all plans.
- Guests and limited members cannot mention external AI agents.
- Only the Workspace owner and admins can connect an external AI agent.

Admins and owners can set up and manage external AI Agents in your Workspace.
To set up an external AI Agent from the App Center:
- In the App Center sidebar, click Agents.
- Select the external AI Agent.
- Click Connect and follow the prompts to authorize the Agent.
- Any Workspace member can now interact with the external Agent.

Are external Agents billable seats?
External Agents in ClickUp don't count as billable seats. The services that offer these Agents might have their own pricing, so check their documentation before you install them.
How does ClickUp use data from external Agents?
ClickUp doesn’t use your data to train its models. We rely on models from well-known providers.
External Agents are third-party tools approved by your Workspace. For details on how they handle data, check with the Agent’s provider.
How do I uninstall or manage external AI Agents?
External Agents can be uninstalled or managed by admins from the App Center.
