Use ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI models without leaving ClickUp! Unsure how to manage AI access for different departments? Use external AI models

These external AI models cannot answer questions using data from your Workspace. Learn more about our AI privacy and security policies.

To access external AI models:

  1. From the toolbar, open AI.
  2. At the top of the Brain Assistant, click the ClickUp Brain dropdown. Select one of the available models.
  3. After the AI responds, you can type in the prompt field to provide more direction or ask something new.

The following sections describe the available models by vendor.

OpenAI

You can select from several OpenAI models including ChatGPT, o3, and o4-mini.

GPT-5.2 OpenAI's most advanced model. 
GPT-5.1

Complex reasoning and multi-step tasks. 

Use for broad world knowledge, like coding, math, writing, health, and visual perception. 
GPT-5 mini

A lightweight version of ChatGPT-5.

Use for code generation, bug fixing, and instruction-following. 
GPT-4o Complex, creative, or technical tasks.
GPT-4.1

Excels at everyday tasks with large context.

Better at coding, instruction-following, and long context understanding than ChatGPT-4o.
o4-mini Great for quick and efficient reasoning.
o3

Efficient, advanced deep reasoning.

Use for science, math, and coding. 

Anthropic

Select from Anthropic's powerful Claude models:

Claude Opus 4.5

Anthropic's most advanced reasoning model.

Use for coding and reasoning.
Claude Sonnet 4.5

Efficient and versatile for everyday tasks.

Use for STEM, finance, law, and medicine.
Claude Haiku 4.5

High intelligence and lightning-fast speed. 

Try using Sonnet 4.5 to break down a complex problem into multiple steps, then use Haiku 4.5 to execute those plans.

Google Gemini

Select from Google's powerful and fast Gemini models:

Gemini 3 Pro Best for complex data and logic-heavy tasks.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Best for complex data and logic-heavy tasks.
Gemini 2.5 Flash Fast and accurate for most tasks with big data.
Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite Flash-Lite is fast for large tasks.

  • In the upper-left corner, click the home icon.
