Edit or delete custom task types

Update, consolidate, and remove custom task types from your Workspace.

Only Workspace owners and admins can edit and delete custom task types.

Edit a task type

To edit a task type:

  1. Go to your Workspace settings.
  2. In the settings menu on the left, click Task Types.
  3. On the right of the custom task type, click the ellipsis ... icon.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Update the icon, name, plural name, or description.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Your changes will apply to any existing or new tasks using the custom task type.

Delete a task type

When deleting a custom task type, you'll have the option to reassign any existing tasks to a new type.

If a large number of tasks need to be reassigned, it may take a few minutes to complete your changes.

This action can't be undone. Once you delete a task type, you can't restore it.

To delete a task type:

  1. Go to your Workspace settings.
  2. In the settings menu on the left, click Task Types.
  3. On the right of the custom task type, click the ellipsis ... icon.
  4. Find the task type you want to delete, and click the ellipsis ... to the right of the task name.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. Re-enter the name of the task type to confirm you want to delete it.
  7. Use the dropdown to select another task type to reassign any existing tasks to.
  8. Click Yes, Delete to confirm.
