Choose who can access a Channel.
Location-based Channels cannot be made private. Their privacy is determined by their Hierarchy location.

Make a Channel private
There are multiple ways to make a Channel private.
From your Home Sidebar
To make a Channel private from your Home Sidebar:
- In your Global Navigation, click Home.
- In the Channels section of your Home Sidebar, hover over the Channel and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Alternatively, right-click the Channel.
- Select Make Private.
- To confirm, click Make private.
- Search for and select people you'd like to have access to the Channel.
- Select Add. If you don't want to add anyone, click Skip.
From the Chat Sidebar
To make a Channel private from the Chat Sidebar:
- In your Global Navigation, click Chat.
- In the Chat Sidebar, right-click the Channel.
- Select Make Private.
- To confirm, click Make private.
- Search for and select people you'd like to have access to the Channel.
- Select Add. If you don't want to add anyone, click Skip.
From its header
To make a Channel private from its header:
- Open the Channel.
- At the top, click the ellipsis ... menu next to the Channel name.
- Select Make Private.
- To confirm, click Make private.
- Search for and select people you'd like to have access to the Channel.
- Select Add. If you don't want to add anyone, click Skip.
From the details sidebar
To make a Channel private from the details sidebar:
- Open the Channel.
- In the floating sidebar on the right, click Settings or the Settings icon.
- In the details sidebar, scroll down and select Make Private.
- To confirm, click Make private.
- Search for and select people you'd like to have access to the Channel.
- Select Add. If you don't want to add anyone, click Skip.
Share a private Channel
Share a private Channel with select individuals.
If the Channel is location-based, its Hierarchy location will also be shared.
