Choose who can access a Channel.

Location-based Channels cannot be made private. Their privacy is determined by their Hierarchy location.

Make a Channel private

To make a Channel private:

1. In the upper-right corner of the Channel, click Share. Or, right-click the Channel in your Home Sidebar or Chat Sidebar and select Sharing & Permissions.
2. At the bottom of the Share this Channel menu, click Make Private. The Channel becomes private immediately, and only you and the people you invite have access to it.
3. To give someone access, type their name in the Invite by name or email field, select a permission level to the right of their name, and click the toggle.

Make a Channel public

To make a private Channel public:

1. In the upper-right corner of the Channel, click Share. Or, right-click the Channel in your Home Sidebar or Chat Sidebar and select Sharing & Permissions.
2. At the bottom of the modal, click Make Public. Everyone in your Workspace gets access.

If the Channel is location-based, its Hierarchy location will also be shared.
