Triage messages in mobile Chat

Create, track, and complete action items from Chat messages on the mobile app. Triage action items to colleagues and see when the work is completed.

Chat availability

We're currently experiencing high demand for Chat. You can join the waitlist from the Chat ClickApp in your Workspace.

ClickUp Chat is free. Certain restrictions may apply later.

What you'll need

  • A Workspace owner or admin must enable the Chat ClickApp from the desktop app or a browser. The ClickApp cannot be enabled from the mobile app.
  • To send messages in location-based Chats, you must have Comment permissions or higher in the Chat's Hierarchy location.
  • Limited members can start direct messages with anyone.
  • Limited members can @mention anyone in the Workspace.
  • Limited members can create new Chats. Limited members read only cannot create new Chats.

Triage messages

To triage a message in a Chat or DM:

  1. Tap and hold the message.
  2. Select Triage.
  3. Choose a way to triage the message:
    • Search: Use the search bar at the top to select an assignee or connect a task.
    • Assign to: Assign the message to someone. The assignee will be displayed above the message.
    • Create task with AI: Use Brain to create a task using the thread context. The new task can be accessed from directly above the message.

      Only Workspaces with the AI add-on can create tasks with AI.

    • Connect task: Connect a relevant task to the message. The connected task can be accessed from directly above the message.
    • Create task: Manually create a task. The new task can be accessed from directly above the message.

Resolve triaged messages

To resolve a triaged message, tap Resolve above the message. The person who resolved the action item is displayed above the message.

You can also tap the expand button next to Resolve to resolve, unassign, or edit the triage options.

Access triaged messages

Messages that have been triaged to you are displayed in the FollowUps tab of Chat. If the message was assigned to you, it will also display in the Activity tab.
