Creating tasks from Chat messages on the mobile app is only available on ClickUp 4.0.

Create a task from a message on mobile

To create and relate a task to a message on the mobile app:

1. In any Channel or direct message, tap and hold the message.
2. Select Create task.
3. Create the task using one of the available options:
   • Search for a select a List. A task will be generated for you using context from the thread.
   • Have AI select a List for you and generate a task using context from the thread by tapping Automatic - Let AI decide.

Update tasks from messages

After creating the task, you can access it from the Channel or the thread.

1. Tap the message.
2. Take any of the following actions:
   • Update the status by tapping it.
   • Update the assignee by tapping it.
   • Open the task by tapping View Task.
   • Open the task's List by tapping it.
   • Disconnect the task from the message by tapping the x icon.

Relate a task to a message on mobile

To relate an existing task to a message on the mobile app:

1. In any Channel or direct message, tap and hold the message.
2. Select Add relationship.
   
3. Search for and select one or more tasks, or create a new task by tapping Create with AI.
4. When done, tap Cancel in the upper-left corner.

View all related tasks

To see all relationships that have been added to a message, tap the relationship icon above the message.

Disconnect related tasks

To disconnect a related task from a message:

1. At the top of the message, tap the relationship icon.
2. To the right of the task you want to disconnect, tap the x icon.
