Ask AI to search a Google Sheet to find which potential customers attended your last event. Or, to ask GitHub which commits are connected to a task.

- Personal Connected Search is available on the Business Plus and Enterprise Plans.
- Workspace Connected Search is available on the Business Plan and above.
- Workspace owners and admins can enable the Connected Search ClickApp and connect apps.
- Guests can't use Connected Search.
Connected Search and AI
Connected Search is a feature of the Command Center. To search in the Command Center, you can use keywords and filters to find items, like Docs, in ClickUp. If you have external apps connected to the Command Center, you can search for items, like a Google Doc, from those apps. Take a look at our article Connected Search to learn which apps are available per plan.
With AI enabled, you can ask questions about the info in your Workspace items and external apps!
Enable the Connected Search and AI ClickApps
To use Connected AI, a Workspace owner or admin must connect the following two ClickApps:
- In the upper-left corner, click your Workspace avatar.
- Select Apps and choose ClickApps.
- Search for and enable Connected Search.
- Search for and enable AI.
Connect apps
Depending on your plan, apps can have a Workspace or private connection. Take a look at our article Connected Search to learn how to connect apps and which apps are available per plan.
Use ClickUp AI to search your connected apps
There are several ways to search your connected apps.
To use AI to search your connected apps:
- In the lower-right corner of your screen or the toolbar, click the AI icon.
- Ask AI in one of these ways:
- At the top of the AI modal, click the app you want to search and ask AI about items in the app.
For example: Click Confluence. Then in the prompt field type, Is there a template we can use for weekly updates? - Paste a URL to the item and ask AI a question about it.
For example: Right-click to copy the link to a Google Sheet. Then in the prompt field type, How many people attended our last event? - Type the name of the item and your question.
For example: In the prompt field type, Search the Sheet "Jan 16th event" and create a list of the people who attended our last event and their email addresses.
- At the top of the AI modal, click the app you want to search and ask AI about items in the app.

After AI responds, you have the following choices:

- If you ask AI to find an item, the item link is in AI's answer.
- +Create: Create a task or Doc from the comment thread.
- Copy: Copy the text to paste it into another location manually. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
- Retry: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
- Tell AI what to do next: Give AI more direction or ask AI something new.

Use ClickUp AI to search your Workspace
To use AI to search your Workspace:
- In the lower-right corner of your screen or the toolbar, click the AI icon.
- Type a question into the Tell AI what to do next search bar.
- For example, you've asked the question: What's the timeline for Project A? AI finds a wiki titled Project A brief and answers with the timeline.
- For example, you've asked the question: What's the timeline for Project A? AI finds a wiki titled Project A brief and answers with the timeline.
Let's say you type the same question into the Command Center Search bar. The Command Center returns a list of related tasks, Docs, and wikis including Project A brief. Connected AI helps you find the info faster!
After AI responds, you have the following choices:
- Resources: Click the dropdown to see where AI found the answer.
- +Create: Create a task or Doc from the comment thread.
- Copy: Copy the text to paste it into another location manually. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
- Retry: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
- Follow ups: Select one of the suggested follow-up questions.
- Tell AI what to do next: Give AI more direction or ask AI something new.
