Connected Search and AI

Workspaces with ClickUp AI that use Connected Search can ask AI questions about external apps!

Connected Search is a feature of the AI Command Bar. When searching using the AI Command Bar, you can use keywords and filters to find items, like Docs, in ClickUp. If you have external apps connected to the AI Command Bar, you can search for items, like a Google Doc, from those apps. Take a look at our Connected Search article to learn which apps are available per plan.

Activate the Connected Search and AI ClickApps

To use Connected AI, a Workspace owner or admin must activate the following two ClickApps:

  1. Open the App Center.
  2. From the App Center's left sidebar, click All ClickApps.
  3. Browse or search for the Connected Search and AI ClickApps.
  4. Click the toggles to activate both ClickApps.

Depending on your plan, apps can have a Workspace or private connection. Take a look at our article Connected Search to learn how to connect apps and which apps are available per plan.

Use ClickUp AI to search your connected apps

There are several ways to search your connected apps.

To use ClickUp AI to search your connected apps:

  1. In the toolbar, click the AI icon.
  2. Ask AI in one of these ways:
    • At the top of the AI modal, click the app you want to search and ask AI about items in the app.
For example: Click the Google Drive icon. Then, in the prompt field, type: Is there a template we can use for weekly updates?
    • Paste a URL to the item and ask AI a question about it.
For example: Right-click to copy the link to a Google Sheet. Then, in the prompt field type: How many people attended our last event?
    • Type the name of the item and your question.
For example: In the prompt field type, Search the Sheet "Jan 16th event" and create a list of the people who attended our last event and their email addresses.
    • At the bottom of the AI modal, click the location picker and select an app. Not all connected apps are available at this time.
  3. After AI responds, you have the following choices:
