What are Brain Assistant and Autopilot AI?

Brain Assistant and Autopilot AI are ClickUp AI feature types. Most ClickUp AI features are either manual or automatic:

• Brain Assistant: These uses are manual. They require human intervention. For example, using our feature, Write with AI.
• Autopilot AI: These actions are configured by someone in your Workspace and then happen automatically or autonomously. For example, AI Fields and ClickUp AI Agents.
• Some AI features respond both automatically and through human interaction. These cases are counted as Autopilot AI actions.

The following are some examples of features that count as a Brain Assistant use and an Autopilot AI action:

Brain Assistant uses

Brain Assistant uses occur with features where you interact with AI, and AI responds.

Examples of Brain Assistant uses:

• Web Search
• Use of external AI models from ClickUp
• AI Writing
• Creating tasks and Docs 
• Using the prompt field to ask questions
• Asking questions about info in Connected Apps

Autopilot AI actions

Autopilot AI actions occur with automatic or autonomous AI features. 

Examples of Autopilot AI actions:

• An update made by AI Fields
• An action by ClickUp AI Agents
• AI Assign
• AI Prioritize
• Certain uses of AI Cards
• Blocking time for tasks using AI Time-Blocking

How are Brain Assistant uses and Autopilot AI actions tracked?

Uses and actions are tracked in the following way:

• Brain Assistant uses: Brain Assistant trial and paid add-on uses are calculated per Workspace. 
• Autopilot AI actions: Autopilot AI trial and paid add-on actions are calculated per user per month.

Track your Workspace's actions

1. In the upper-right corner of a Chat, Space, Folder, or List, click the agent icon.
2. At the bottom of the AI Agents modal, click Manage agents.
3. Select the Usage tab.
4. Scroll to the Autopilot AI Actions section.

AI will only respond to users with information the user has access to.

All user roles can only use ClickUp AI Agents from locations and items they can access and have full or full edit permissions for.
