Search with BrainGPT

Search ClickUp, the web, or files from your connected apps like GitHub, Google Drive, Sharepoint, and many more using BrainGPT.

Search using BrainGPT

To search using BrainGPT:

  1. At the top of the left sidebar, click Home or the New Chat button to open search.
  2. Type your request in the search bar.
    • Optional: To upload an image to your search, click the plus icon under the search bar and select the file.
    • Optional: To include the web in your search results, click the web icon under the search bar.
  3. Press Return on Mac, Enter on PC, or click the search icon under the search bar.

For example, you could search What is Amoreen working on? or Find me the Google Drive files related to release 2.1.3.

BrainGPT generates intelligent search suggestions and displays them below the search bar. BrainGPT continuously learns from your searches to improve these suggestions.

Change AI models

Search uses Brain by default, which includes ClickUp files and files from your connected apps.

You can change the AI model to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, but these models don't have access to your ClickUp knowledge.

To change the AI model:

  1. At the top of the left sidebar, click Home or the New Chat button to open search.
  2. Under the search bar, click Brain.
  3. Select a different large language model:
    • ChatGPT:
      • GPT-5.1
      • GPT-5 Mini
      • GPT-4.1
    • Claude
      • Claude Sonnet 4.5
      • Claude Haiku 4.5
      • Claude Sonnet 4
      • Claude Opus 4
    • Gemini
      • Gemini 3 Pro
      • Gemini 2.5 Pro
      • Gemini 2.5 Flash

Choose where BrainGPT searches

To choose which knowledge BrainGPT uses:

  1. At the top of the left sidebar, click Home or the New Chat button to open search.
  2. Under the search bar, click Brain.
  3. Hover over Search, ask, create and click Edit.
  4. Uncheck any apps you don't want BrainGPT to search.

Search connected apps

By default, search includes results from all of your connected apps.

To filter search results to only one connected app:

  1. Under the Apps section in the left sidebar, click the app. If you don't see the app, click Show all.
  2. Type your request in the search bar, or press and hold your shortcut key to use Talk to Text.
    • Optional: To upload an image to your search, click the plus icon under the search bar and select the file.
  3. Press Return on Mac, Enter on PC, or click the search icon under the search bar.

Mention assets in your search

To mention assets like tasks, Lists, Docs, and people in your search:

  1. At the top of the left sidebar, click Home or the New Chat button to open search.
  2. In the search bar, type @.
    • You can also click the plus icon under the search bar and select Mention assets.
  3. Type a name, keyword, or phrase from the asset. Results are automatically filtered.
  4. Click the asset.
  5. Add any additional context to your request.
  6. Press Return on Mac, Enter on PC, or click the search icon under the search bar.

Use saved prompts

To use one of your Workspace's saved prompts in your search:

  1. At the top of the left sidebar, click Home or the New Chat button to open search.
  2. Under the search bar, click the plus icon and select Prompts.
  3. Select the prompt.
  4. Add any additional context to your request.
  5. Press Return on Mac, Enter on PC, or click the search icon under the search bar.

View previous searches

Your recent BrainGPT searches are listed in the Chats section of the left sidebar. Talk to Text searches are not listed in this section.

To view all of your past searches, click Show all at the bottom of the section.

Search your previous searches

To search your previous searches:

  1. Hover over the left sidebar.
    • If the sidebar is hidden, click the sidebar icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Click the search icon.
  3. Type a keyword or phrase.
  4. Results are automatically filtered.
