Channel types
Before creating a Channel, decide if you want it to be location-based or locationless.
| Channel type | Description | Uses |
| Location-based |
|
Use location-based Channels when you want conversations tightly connected to a specific project or team. Access to the Channel is determined by the privacy of the location. |
| Locationless | Not associated with any Space, Folder, or List | Use locationless Channels for general topics, cross-team discussions, or conversations that don't fit a specific project. |
For quick, informal messaging, you can direct message individuals or groups.
