When you open a direct message, you can pin it, start a SyncUp, or open the details sidebar for additional options.

See conversation history and recipient details
When you open a direct message, you'll be viewing the conversation history.
If you're conversing with one person, you'll see the Calendar and Assigned Tasks tabs in addition to the Chat tab at the top of the conversation:
- Chat: View your direct message history with the person or group.
- Calendar: View the calendar of the person you're messaging. You can move through days using the arrows at the top.
- Assigned Tasks: View all tasks assigned to the person you're messaging in a customizable, searchable, and filterable List view.
Take action on direct messages
You can mark direct messages as read or unread, move them to other sections, pin or unpin them, and much more.
From an open direct message, hover over the person or group's name and click the ellipsis... menu.
From anywhere in Chat, right-click the person or group's name in the Chat sidebar.
The following options are available:
| Option | Description |
| Mark as unread | Mark the direct message unread. |
| Copy link | Copy the URL to the direct message. |
| View Profile | Open the person's Profile, or group's details sidebar. |
| Pin/Unpin | Pin or unpin the direct message from your Chat sidebar. |
| Move to section | Move the direct message to another section in your Chat sidebar. |
| Close DM | Remove the direct message from your Chat sidebar. If anyone sends a new message, it will reopen the direct message in everyone's Chat sidebar. |
Start a SyncUp
Collaborate live with your colleagues!
To start a SyncUp with everyone in the direct message, click the phone icon in the upper-right corner.
To copy the SyncUp link:
- In the upper-right next to the phone icon, click the expand icon.
- Select Copy SyncUp Link.
Use the details sidebar
To open the details sidebar, click the sidebar icon in the upper-right corner.
From the details sidebar, you can do the following:
- Pin the direct message in your sidebar.
- Open their Profile. This option is not available for group direct messages.
- Start a SyncUp with everyone in the direct message.
- View their online status, email, and their local time. This option is not available for group direct messages.
- View or open any files uploaded in your conversation.
- Close the direct message. It will be reopened if anyone sends a new message.
- Update additional options.
