Add Sprints to a Sprint Folder

Sprints are Lists that you add to Sprint Folders. On the Business Plan and up, you can enable two Automations that add Sprints and tasks to your Sprint Folder.

On Free Forever and Unlimited Plans, you can manually add 1–50 Sprints.

If neither of the following settings is right for your Workspace, take a look at Custom Sprint Duration. This feature allows you to adjust individual Sprints without changing the default time-period settings for your Sprint Folder or Workspace.

To add Sprints using Automations on a Business Plan and up:

  1. From the Folder where you want to apply the Automation, click the ellipsis ... menu.
  2. Select Folder settings, then Sprint Folder Settings
  3. In the Default Settings for Sprints modal, select the Automations tab.
  4. Click the toggle to enable the following Automations:
    • When Sprint is done then Create new Sprint: When a Sprint is marked Done, one new Sprint is added to the Sprint Folder where the Automation was enabled. After enabling this Automation, you can specify the number of times a Sprint will be added by typing a number into the field.

For example, in your Workspace's Sprint settings Sprints are set for a 1-week duration. In this Automation's number field, you set the number of Sprints to 20. After this week's Sprint is marked Done, the next Sprint is automatically added to this Sprint Folder. One Sprint is added each week for the next 19 weeks.

    • When Sprint is done then Move tasks to next Sprint: After the current Sprint is marked as Done and before the next Sprint starts, unfinished tasks will be moved to the next Sprint. Tasks will no longer be included in the previous Sprint.

  5. Click Save.

To add manually add Sprints on a Free Forever or Unlimited Plan:

  1. From the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... next to the Sprint Folder or a Sprint in the Sprint Folder.
  2. Select Create new.
Screenshot of the ellipsis ..., the Create new menu, and the Sprint option.
  3. Click Sprint.
    • The Create Sprint modal's Select dates for your first sprint dropdown follows the duration, start, and end dates set up in your Workspace's Sprint settings. The next 20 date ranges display in the dropdown. The range you select will be the duration of your first Sprint.

For example: In your Workspace's Sprint settings Sprints are set for a 1-week duration. The 20 sequential date ranges in the Select dates for your first sprint dropdown have a 1-week duration. If you choose the first date range of 4/19–4/25, the first Sprint in this Folder will have this duration. The second Sprint's duration will be 4/26–5/2, and so on.

Sequential Sprints will be created in a 1-week range even if the next sequence of ranges isn't in the dropdown.
For example: Instead of selecting the first date range of 4/19–4/25, you choose the last date range of 8/30–9/5. Your first Sprint in this Folder will have this duration. The second Sprint's duration will be 9/6-9/12 and so on.

Select dates for your first sprint dropdown highlighting the first through the twentieth sequential date range.

    • In the How many sprints do you want to create? box, you can enter a number from 1 to 50. Using the date-range example above: You type 50. Fifty 1-week Sprints will be added to the Folder starting on your selected date range.
  4. Click Create Sprints.
  5. The Sprint Lists are added to the Folder.
