Naming tasks from Forms
By default, new Forms include the task name field as a question.
You may not want users to set the task name on the Form, especially if you prefer to keep task names consistent by using standard naming conventions.
If you remove the task name field from your Form, tasks will use a generic naming convention:
Form Submission - {date+time}
Use an Automation to rename tasks
You can create a simple Automation to rename tasks created from a Form.
-
Trigger: Task created.
- From the Created by dropdown menu:
- Click Deselect All.
- Select Forms.
- From the Created by dropdown menu:
- Action: Change task name.
You can use dynamic values from the trigger task (each form submission) including Custom Fields.
In the below example, the Automation sets task names to follow a standard naming convention:
Use Custom Fields in task names
In the below example, the Automation uses Custom Fields from the Form.
- The Customer Name text Custom Field is required on the Form.
- The Automation uses the Customer Name value from each Form submission to set the task name.
