Codegen is your AI developer teammate in ClickUp. It is an external AI Agent that completes tasks, builds features, and answers code questions using natural language. Release features faster with fewer errors and create production-ready pull requests.
What you'll need
- You can mention external AI Agents on all plans.
- Guests and limited members cannot mention external AI agents.
- Only the Workspace owner and admins can connect an external AI agent.
Connect Codegen
Admins and owners can set up Codegen in your Workspace. The person setting up the integration must have a Codegen account.
When a user logs in to Codegen, they are automatically added to the Codegen organization that matches the GitHub organizations they are a part of. Codegen organization admins can invite more users here.
To set up Codegen from the App Center:
- Search for and select Codegen.
- Click Connect and follow the instructions provided by Codegen.
- Any Workspace member can now interact with the Codegen Agent.
Use Codegen in ClickUp
Codegen is designed to work seamlessly alongside human teammates.
There are three ways to use Codegen:
-
Create an Automation that assigns tasks to Codegen or @mentions Codegen in a comment.
-
Manually assign a task to the Codegen Agent. This triggers Codegen to take action based on its programmed behavior.
External Agents are not traditional assignees. Assigning a task to an external Agent triggers the Agent to act on it, but a human teammate remains responsible for its completion.
- @mention Codegen in task comments to trigger its functions.
If you're unsure what the Codegen Agent can assist you with, try @mentioning the Codegen Agent in a task comment and ask for help.
