Connect tasks and Docs with pagelinks to create relationships between your content and work.

Viewing Relationships

You can see all the related content and links for the current page or entire Doc from the Relationships & References section of the right sidebar.

Pagelinks

Relate pages and Docs with other pages, Docs, or tasks in your Workspace.

Pagelinks are great for creating relationships between content and work, without referencing that relationship in the content itself.

References

ClickUp automatically creates references to keep track of related content when you mention or copy and paste links to tasks and Docs.

External Links

Links to websites outside of ClickUp are shown together under the Relationships menu in the right sidebar.

Search for related items

Find the content and tasks related to a specific page or Doc.

  1. Access the Relationships & References settings menu.

    • Either open the right sidebar and click on the Relationships & References icon.

    • or click on the Relationships & References icon from the quick access sidebar.

  2. Select Current Page or Entire Doc.

  3. Search for a task or page by searching for keywords.

  4. Filter your results to include tasks, pages, or both.

Display pagelinks

Customize how pagelinks are displayed on individual pages, or for all pages in a Doc.

  1. Access the Relationships & References settings menu.

    • Either open the right sidebar and click on the Relationships & References icon.

    • or click on the Relationships & References icon from the quick access sidebar.

  2. Select Current Page or Entire Doc to set your preference.

  3. Under Options select your preferred Display on page settings.

Dialog

Dialog is the default display option. Relationship information can be found by hovering above the title of your page and selecting the Relationships button.

This option is more discreet, but still accessible to your team.

Accordion

Accordion appears below the title and above the page content. This option is perfect if you have very relevant items and want to display them front and center for your team.

Simply click the arrow icon to expand or contract the Relationship section.

Off

Pagelinks only appear in the Relationships tab of the right sidebar.

If you're not relating a page to other Docs or tasks, or if related content is taking up too much space on the screen, you can use this setting to hide them.

Creating Relationships

There are two main ways to create Relationships with Docs in ClickUp:

  1. Pagelinks

  2. Mentions and hyperlinks

Add a pagelink

To add a pagelink from a Doc:

  1. Open the right sidebar and select Relationships & References or select the Relationships & References icon from the quick access sidebar.

  2. Select Current Page or Entire Doc.

  3. Click the plus icon next to the pagelinks heading.

  4. Select a task or Doc.

  5. Search or browse for the task or page.

  6. Select the task or page to create the pagelink.

Add a pagelink from Task view

Want to relate a Doc or page without leaving a task? Our Relationships feature makes it easy to add pagelinks right from a Task.

To use Relationships, a Workspace owner or admin will need to enable the Relationships ClickApp.

Task view 3.0 has introduced several new features and UI updates! Click the following tabs to see the instructions for each version.

  1. To add a pagelink using Task view 2.0:

    1. Click + Add Relationship.

    2. Select Doc.

    3. Search for and select the Doc or page you wish to relate.

    4. The task and Doc will now be linked with a pagelink!

  2. In Task View 3.0, there are two ways to relate Docs and tasks.


    Using the Create Relationship tab:

    1. To the left of the Activity section, click the plus icon.

    2. Click Link Doc.

    3. Search or browse for a Doc to link.


    From the ellipsis ... menu:

    1. Open a task.

    2. In the top-right, click the ellipsis ... to open the Task settings menu.

    3. Select Relationships then click Doc.

    4. Search or browse for a Doc to link.

 

Mentions and hyperlinks

Relate Docs, pages, and tasks to each other simply by mentioning them!

You can also manually copy and paste the internal link to pages and Docs.

These are both great ways to relate content and tasks inside your content, or in conversation on tasks and comments!

Copy the link to a page

  1. Click the page settings ellipsis.

  2. Select Copy link.

  3. Paste the link wherever you need it!

Copy the link to a Doc

  1. Click the Doc settings icon on the right sidebar.

  2. Select Copy link.

  3. Paste the link wherever you need it!
