ClickUp backs up your Workspace data on a regular schedule to protect it from loss. Learn how backups work, how long ClickUp keeps them, and what happens to data you delete. For more about how ClickUp protects your data, see the ClickUp Security Policy.
How backups work
ClickUp stores your data on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and backs it up automatically. How backups are handled:
- Backups stay in the same region as your Workspace data.
- ClickUp tests backup and recovery at least once a month.
- Backups are used only for disaster recovery.
You can't restore individual items from a ClickUp backup. To keep your own copy of your data, export it from your Workspace.
Backup retention
ClickUp keeps backups for up to one year. When the retention period ends, the backup is automatically deleted. You don't need to do anything to start or manage this process.
Deleted data and backups
ClickUp does not delete data from backups. When you delete an item from your Workspace, copies of it can stay in existing backups. Those copies are removed when the backup is automatically deleted, no later than one year after the backup was created.
Backups are encrypted and access to them is restricted. ClickUp does not use backup data for any purpose other than disaster recovery.
