Create a task from a Doc or wiki

Use the Doc toolbar to create a task or a subtask from a Doc or a wiki. 

What you'll need

  • Docs and wikis are available on every ClickUp plan.
  • Guests can't create Docs or wikis.
  • Docs and wikis created in Docs Hub are private by default on our Business Plan and up.
  • Free Forever and Business Plans can create one wiki per Workspace. 
  • Business Plus Plans can create unlimited wikis. 

Create a task 

To create a task from a Doc or wiki:

  1. From the open Doc or wiki, highlight some text. 
  2. On the toolbar, click the dropdown next to + Task
  3. From the dropdown, select Task or New subtask
    • By default, the task or subtask is created in your current location.
    • If your Doc or wiki is saved in the Doc's Hub, you'll need to select a location.   
    • To select a new location, in the Create modal click the current location name. 
    • If this location has a required Custom Field, you'll need to populate it. 
    • You can also rename the task, and add other details like Assignee. 
  4. Click Create.
