Sync parent and subtask dates

Set each parent task to use the dates of its subtasks.

The parent task's start and due dates will be updated instantly and automatically maintained over time, until you manually override the dates.

With the sync dates with subtasks option activated, the parent task's:

  • Start date reflects the earliest start date of its subtasks.
  • Due date reflects the latest due date of its subtasks.
  • Duration reflects the full span between those dates.

Feature availability and limits vary by plan and user role. Learn more

The sync persists until you manually override the parent task's dates or turn the setting off.

Marketing campaign example

In the following example, a marketing campaign is organized with:

  • A parent task for the Feature Launch Campaign.
  • Three subtasks for Content creation, Social media posts, and Email marketing.

The dates on the tasks are out of alignment:

  • The Content Creation subtask is scheduled before the start date of its parent task.
  • The Launch Campaign parent task is due 3 days after the social media and email marketing subtasks.
