Use Talk to Text in the BrainGPT Chrome extension

Use the BrainGPT Chrome extension's AI-powered Talk to Text to convert your voice to text completely hands-free in BrainGPT or any text box. Save time drafting emails, writing briefs, or completing any type of work that involves typing!

Set up Talk to Text on the Chrome extension

To set up Talk to Text on the Chrome extension:

  1. Click the Talk to Text icon at the bottom of the search bar in the BrainGPT sidebar or BrainGPT Home. Or, click Talk in the left sidebar of BrainGPT Home.

  2. Click Try Talking.
  3. To confirm Option + B on Mac or Alt + B on PC as your Talk to Text shortcut, press the keyboard shortcut. To change the shortcut, visit chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
  4. Follow the remaining prompts to complete setup.

Use Talk to Text on the Chrome extension

To use Talk to Text on the Chrome extension:

  1. Start recording:
    • Press Option + B on Mac, Alt + B on PC, or your custom keyboard shortcut to start recording. You'll see a floating bar on your screen that indicates you're recording. To stop recording, press the keyboard shortcut again.
    • From the BrainGPT sidebar or BrainGPT Home, click the Talk to Text icon to start recording. To stop recording, click the icon again.
  2. Your speech is converted to text and improved using AI, then pasted into the BrainGPT search bar or copied to your clipboard.

Move the floating bar

By default, the floating bar is at the bottom center of your screen. You can move the floating bar when you aren't recording by dragging and dropping it.

Add names and vocabulary to your BrainGPT dictionary

You can choose how Talk to Text handles specific names and terms. These names and terms are shared with the BrainGPT app.

To add names or words to your BrainGPT dictionary on the Chrome extension:

  1. Open BrainGPT Home.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Talk.
  3. At the top, click the Dictionary tab.
  4. Add names or words to your dictionary.

Change Talk to Text settings

Change keyboard shortcuts and the output language for BrainGPT. These settings are shared with the BrainGPT app.

To change Talk to Text settings on the Chrome extension:

  1. Open BrainGPT Home.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Talk.
  3. At the top, click the Settings tab.
  4. Customize your Talk to Text settings.

The following customization options are available:

Option Description
Input device Change your microphone input.
Interaction sounds Play sounds for actions.
Mute audio during dictation When using Talk to Text, automatically mute any audio coming from your device while you're speaking.
Output Language Manually choose an output language for Talk to Text. By default, Talk to Text automatically detects your language.
