What is the BrainGPT Chrome extension?

Download the BrainGPT Chrome extension

To get started, download the BrainGPT Chrome extension.

If you use single sign-on (SSO) or two-factor authentication (2FA) in your Workspace, these methods will be used to sign in to the BrainGPT Chrome extension.

Open BrainGPT in Chrome

Open the BrainGPT Chrome extension on any webpage to start using your ClickUp AI companion:

  • In the lower-right corner, click the floating ClickUp Brain icon to open the BrainGPT sidebar.

    If you don't see the icon, ensure you have the Show on all domains or Show on this domain setting activated.

  • In the lower-right corner, hover over the floating ClickUp Brain icon and select one of the options:
    • Summarize: Open the BrainGPT sidebar and summarize the page.
    • Bookmark: Open the BrainGPT sidebar and bookmark the page by creating a task in your Personal List for it.
    • Talk to Text: Open the BrainGPT sidebar and start recording your voice.
  • In the upper-right corner of the browser, click the ClickUp Brain icon if the extension is pinned. Otherwise, click the puzzle icon and select ClickUp.
  • Open a new browser tab to start using BrainGPT Home. The Brain Home Tab setting must be activated.

Pin the BrainGPT Chrome extension

Quickly access the BrainGPT Chrome extension by pinning it. There are two ways to pin the extension.

From the BrainGPT sidebar

To pin the Chrome extension from the BrainGPT sidebar, click the pin icon in the upper-right corner.

To pin the Chrome extension from the extensions menu in Chrome:

  1. In the upper-right corner of the browser, click the puzzle icon.
  2. To the right of ClickUp, click the pin icon.

Create a task from any webpage

Find the perfect venue for an offsite? Get inspired by the design of a website? Create a ClickUp task from any webpage in seconds.

Tasks created using BrainGPT are added to your Personal List unless you specify otherwise.

To create a task from any webpage:

  1. In the lower-right corner, hover over the floating ClickUp Brain icon. 

    If you don't see the icon, ensure you have the Show on all domains or Show on this domain setting activated.

  2. Create a task using the BrainGPT sidebar:
    • In the text field, provide details about the task and press Return on Mac or Enter on PC. You can include context from your current webpage.
    • Above the search bar, click Create task to generate a task using only the context from your current webpage.
    • Click the Talk to Text icon in the lower-right corner to start transcribing your voice.
    • Optional: Take a screenshot of the current tab and add it to your request by clicking the screenshot icon.

  3. In the BrainGPT sidebar, open the task or send a follow up request.

Create a task from Gmail

Create a task from an email in one click!

Tasks created from Gmail using BrainGPT are added to your Personal List unless you specify otherwise.

The Gmail Capture Email setting must be activated.

To create a task from an email:

  1. Open an email in your Gmail inbox.
  2. Under the sender information, click Add to ClickUp.

  3. The task will be created in your Workspace. The task name will be the email subject and the description will include relevant details from the email body.
  4. In the BrainGPT sidebar, respond or select one of the follow ups at the bottom.

Copy, share, or regenerate results

Copy, share, or regenerate BrainGPT results by clicking the copy, share, or refresh icon directly under the result.

Bookmark a page

Want to save a page for later? Create a bookmark task in your Personal List from any webpage.

Tasks created by bookmarking a page are added to your Personal List unless you specify otherwise.

Tasks in your Personal List are private.

To create a bookmark task from any page:

  1. In the lower-right corner, hover over the floating ClickUp Brain icon.

    If you don't see the icon, ensure you have the Show on all domains or Show on this domain setting activated.

  2. Click the bookmark button.

  3. The task will be created in your Workspace. The details can be accessed from the BrainGPT sidebar.

    All bookmark tasks start with Bookmark: in the task title.

  4. Respond or click one of the options at the bottom of the summary. You can ask follow up questions or have BrainGPT take action in ClickUp for you!

Summarize any webpage

Need to catch up on emails? Want to learn about a new product? Summarize any page using BrainGPT.

To summarize any webpage:

  1. In the lower-right corner, hover over the floating ClickUp Brain icon.

    If you don't see the icon, ensure you have the Show on all domains or Show on this domain setting activated.

  2. Click the Summarize button.

  3. Respond or click one of the options at the bottom of the summary. You can ask follow up questions or have BrainGPT take action in ClickUp for you!

Summarize searches

When you search the web, BrainGPT will automatically provide a summary for you.

To respond in the BrainGPT sidebar, click Ask Brain... under the summary. You can ask follow up questions or have BrainGPT take action in ClickUp for you!

To start a new conversation with BrainGPT, click the New Chat icon in the upper-left corner.

Do I have to download each new update?

Updates to the BrainGPT Chrome extension are downloaded and installed automatically when you open the extension.

Is my data secure when using BrainGPT?

Yes! Here's why:

  • BrainGPT does not give large language models (LLMs) direct access to your ClickUp information. Your Workspace data remains private and protected.
  • If your Workspace uses Single Sign-On (SSO) or two-factor authentication (2FA), these security measures are also used when signing in to BrainGPT.
  • Any data processed by BrainGPT follows ClickUp’s security protocols to ensure your information is handled safely.
