Types of AI Fields usage
AI Fields use AI Credits. ClickUp Brain usage and AI Credit consumption are tracked separately, so generating AI Fields does not count toward your Brain usage.
You can generate AI Fields manually or automatically:
- Manual: Click the AI/refresh icon on a field to generate content for a task.

Automated: Content is generated for you in any of the following ways:
- Bulk-generating AI Fields by clicking the AI Field's column header.
- Autofill when tasks are created: Generate content for new tasks automatically. This AI Field Automation is activated by default.
- Auto refresh when tasks update: Every 20 minutes, AI Fields that have been updated will be refreshed.
- Autofill existing tasks: Generate content for all existing tasks. This AI Field Automation is only available at the List level.

Access to AI Fields by user role
The following table shows AI Fields feature availability by user role.
Custom Field permissions can be set for individual users and override the permissions below.
