Relationships allow you to relate tasks to each other. With Custom Relationships, you have additional control and flexibility when linking tasks.

What you'll need

  • Custom Relationships are available on every plan.
  • A Workspace owner or admin must enable the Custom Relationships ClickApp.
    • If you want to go back to the old version using Dependencies, you can turn off the ClickApp without losing any of your relationship links. While we do keep the data, you will not be able to access any of the new fields unless the feature is enabled again.
  • Guests cannot create Custom Relationships. Guests with edit or full permissions can remove existing Custom Relationships.

Custom Relationship types

There are two options when creating Custom Relationships:

  • Any task in your Workspace: Relate two tasks, regardless of location. Both tasks will be displayed in the same relationship table with the same columns. You cannot create columns from Custom Fields using this method.
  • Tasks from a specific List: Relate two Lists together, then link tasks from either List to each other. When creating this type of Custom Relationship, Tasks in Multiple Lists can only be linked if you've related their home Lists. Subtasks cannot be linked this way. You can create relationship columns from Custom Fields using this method.
