Custom Task IDs FAQ

Find answers to common questions about the Custom Task IDs ClickApp.

How do I find a task's original task ID?

Open the task and double-click the custom task ID to see the original task ID.

What happens when I move a task from a Space with Custom Task IDs to a Space without Custom Task IDs?

You can reference that task with the underlying ClickUp Task ID (which will never change) or the Custom Task ID at any time.

What happens when I move a task from a Space with Custom Task IDs to another Space with different Custom Task IDs?

Because Spaces have different prefixes, the task will receive a new Custom Task ID from the second Space.

What happens when I move a task from a Space without Custom Task IDs to a Space with Custom Task IDs?

The task will be assigned to the next available Custom Task ID for that Space. The task will still be able to be referenced with the ClickUp Task ID or the Custom Task ID.

What happens when I want to edit the Prefix of a Space's Custom Task ID?

You can edit the prefix, but it can't have the same Prefix as another Space. If you make a mistake, you can change the prefix for a particular Space back to a previously assigned prefix.

Can I @mention a task by referencing the Custom Task ID?

Yes, you can use @@ to search for a Custom Task ID. When the task unfurls, it will show both the Custom Task ID and the Task Name.

Can I link the git repo to any Space?

If you have the Tasks In Multiple Lists ClickApp enabled, you must link it to the Space that contains the Home List for the task.

If I delete a Space, what happens to the Custom Task IDs within it?

When a Space is deleted, all Custom Task IDs inside become no longer available for use.

What happens to the Task ID prefix when I delete a Space?

The Task ID prefix will be unique forever and always connected to its Space. If the Space is deleted, the prefix will never be available for use again.
