Generating a HAR file

ClickUp Technical Support may occasionally need additional logs for our Development team when investigating a bug. We may ask you to record a HAR file, or a log of network requests, while that issue occurs.

A HAR file may include personal data. Cloudflare has released a HAR sanitizer.

Instructions for generating a HAR file will vary based on your browser:

Generating a HAR file in Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome's Developer Tools by selecting View, Developer, then Developer Tools.
  2. In the Developer Tools window:
    • Verify that the record button in the upper-left corner is red. If it is grey, click the button once to start recording.
    • Check the Preserve log box.
    • Clear both the Network and Console tabs by clicking the Clear icon.2023-10-11_09-54-44.png
  3. Reproduce the bug and wait for the logs to finish loading. This should take no longer than one minute.
  4. Save the HAR file by clicking the Download icon.

  4. You can save the HAR file by clicking the Download icon.

Generating WebSockets logs

ClickUp Technical Support may also ask for WebSockets logs when investigating a bug.

To generate and save a WebSockets log:

  1. First, open Chrome's Developer Tools.
  2. With the Developer Tools window open, refresh the page. Chrome Developer Tools must first be reloaded for the logs to be captured correctly.
  3. Ensure that the Network tab is selected and recording.
  4. Open the WS tab.
  5. Ensure that at least one graphql item is shown in the list. It may take up to seven seconds to load. If it doesn't load, try refreshing the page.
  6. Wait for the logs to finish loading. This should take no longer than one minute.
  7. Save the WebSockets log file by clicking the download icon.
  8. Name the file WS.har. A WebSockets log may include personal data, but you can use Cloudflare's sanitizer to remove it.
  9. In your email thread with ClickUp Technical Support, attach your file.
