Connect Gong MCP to ClickUp so your AI tools can pull Gong conversation intelligence into your work. Ask questions about an account or a deal, and generate structured briefs with key themes, stakeholders, risks, and next steps.
This guide covers the one-time Gong setup your Gong tech admin needs to do, then how to connect from ClickUp using OAuth 2.0.
What you'll need
- A ClickUp Workspace on a plan that supports MCP integrations
- A Gong tech admin to create the integration in Gong's admin center
- A paid Gong seat for everyone who connects. Collaborator seats can't use the Gong MCP server.
- Enough Gong credits for your team's queries. Gong charges credits for MCP tool calls.
You must be a Gong tech admin to create the integration. If you aren't one, send this guide to your tech admin. Team members only need their own paid Gong seat to connect afterward.
Step 1: Open MCP settings in Gong
To open MCP settings in Gong:
- In Gong, click the gear icon at the bottom of the left sidebar to open the Admin center.
- In the Settings tab, click MCP under Ecosystem.
- Click the MCP Server tab.
- Click New MCP server integration.
Some Gong workspaces show an older path. If you don't see MCP under Ecosystem, go to Ecosystem, click API, then click Integrations. Click CREATE INTEGRATION and select MCP integration. Don't create a standard API integration. For more information, see Limitations.
For the full reference, see Gong's guide to enabling supported AI tools.
Step 2: Set up the integration for ClickUp
To set up the integration for ClickUp:
- In Integration name, enter a name that's easy to recognize, like
ClickUp. - In Redirect URL, paste ClickUp's callback URL: https://search.clickup-prod.com/connect/gongmcp.
- Under Registration type, select Automatic. ClickUp connects after you sign in to Gong. No client ID or secret is needed.
- Under Authorization context, pick the level of data access:
- Personal access (recommended): each person connects with their own Gong login and only sees data they can already view in Gong.
- Shared access: the integration can reach all of your company's Gong data. Only use this for org-wide reporting use cases.
- Click Save.
You can't change the registration type or authorization context after you save. To switch either one later, delete the integration and create a new one.
The redirect URL must match https://search.clickup-prod.com/connect/gongmcp exactly, with no trailing slash. If it doesn't match, the Gong sign-in step fails when you connect from ClickUp.
For the full reference, see Gong's guide to creating an integration for the MCP server.
Step 3: Connect in ClickUp
To connect Gong in ClickUp:
- Open the App Center.
- Find Gong.
- Click Connect to open the guided setup.
- Follow the guided steps. They match what you did in Gong: integration name, authorization context, and redirect URL.
- Check that the redirect URL shown in ClickUp matches the one you entered in Gong.
- Click Next.
- Sign in to Gong and approve access when prompted.
- Wait for ClickUp to validate the connection.
Personal and Workspace connections
You choose one of two connection scopes during the guided setup:
- Personal connection: only you can use the Gong tools in ClickUp. Every tool call runs with your Gong identity and permissions.
- Workspace connection: any Workspace member can use the Gong tools. Each person still signs in to Gong individually and needs their own paid Gong seat. Everyone shares the same Gong integration, but each person has their own authorization.
If your Gong integration uses Shared access, anyone who connects can reach all of your company's Gong data. Consider that before you make it a Workspace connection.
What you can do with Gong MCP
Gong's MCP server is read-only. It can't create, update, or delete anything in Gong. These tools are available:
| Tool | What it does |
| Ask account | Answers questions about a single account using Gong's conversation data |
| Ask deal | Answers questions about a single deal |
| Generate brief | Creates a structured summary with key themes, stakeholders, risks, and next steps |
Limitations
Keep these limits and common issues in mind:
- Only a Gong tech admin can create the integration. If you aren't one, the Admin center options won't appear. Ask your tech admin to do Steps 1 and 2.
- Collaborator seats can't connect. Everyone who connects needs a paid Gong seat, even on a Workspace connection.
- If you see the error "Tool is not authorized for the company," Gong has no matching MCP server integration for ClickUp. Check that the integration exists and that its redirect URL is exactly https://search.clickup-prod.com/connect/gongmcp.
- Use an MCP integration, not a standard API integration. Some third-party guides tell you to create a regular Gong API integration and pick individual scopes like
api:calls:read:basic. That's the older API-only flow and doesn't work with Gong's MCP server. - Select Automatic registration. Manual registration issues a client ID and secret that ClickUp's guided setup doesn't use.
- You can't change the registration type or authorization context later. Switching either one means deleting the integration and creating a new one.
- Gong MCP tool calls use Gong credits. Watch usage if a lot of people or agents query Gong. See Gong's guide to how MCP tools consume credits.
- Gong leaves private calls out of all MCP results.
- The server is read-only. You can't create calls, meetings, or any other Gong records from ClickUp.
Disconnect or revoke access
To disconnect from ClickUp:
- Open the App Center.
- Find Gong.
- Click Disconnect.
To fully revoke access from the Gong side, a tech admin deletes the integration:
- In Gong, open the Admin center and click MCP under Ecosystem.
- Click the MCP Server tab.
- Open the ClickUp integration.
- Delete the integration.
Disconnecting in ClickUp revokes your OAuth token but leaves the integration in Gong, so you can reconnect easily. Deleting the Gong integration disconnects everyone who uses it.
