Use Whiteboards keyboard shortcuts

You can find shortcuts in an open Whiteboard by hovering over buttons.

They are also accessible by clicking the Shortcuts menu.

What you'll need

  • Whiteboards are available on every ClickUp Plan.

  • The number of Whiteboards that can be created depends on your plan:

    • Free Forever: 3 Whiteboards.

    • Unlimited: 10 Whiteboards.

    • Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise: Unlimited Whiteboards.

  • Guests can use Whiteboards.

  • If using Google Chrome, we recommend enabling hardware acceleration.

Navigate with keyboard shortcuts

Use these shortcuts to navigate Whiteboards.

Group/Ungroup:

  • Click and drag your mouse to group one or more items together.

  • A blue line appears around items that are grouped
    Type Cmd + G and the items stay grouped, but the blue guideline disappears.

  • Type Cmd + G again and those items are ungrouped.

For the best Whiteboards experience, disable hotkeys in your preferences. This will disable the hotkeys that can be used throughout ClickUp. They're handy, but it's easy to trigger an unwanted action while typing in a Whiteboard item!

  1. Click your avatar at the bottom-left.

  2. Select My Settings. This is your personal settings, not your Workspace settings.

  3. Scroll down to Preferences.

  4. If Hotkeys are enabled, click to disable.

  • Add a node, then press Enter to add a related node vertically.

  • Add a node, then press Tab to add a related node horizontally.

@mention people, tasks, and Docs

Use @mentions in text boxes, sticky notes, and shapes.

  • Type @ for people.

  • Type @@ for tasks.

  • Type @@@ for Docs.

Open the Shortcuts menu

From an open Whiteboard, click the Shortcuts icon next to your avatar in the upper-right of the canvas.
