Use Automations Templates

Browse our Automations templates to find a quick way to create efficient processes for your team. These templates are pre-set Triggers and Actions that can be used as-is to automate repetitive work, like changing the status every time a task is created, and you can customize them.

There are over 50 Automation templates that you can apply to any Space, Folder, or List.
Note: If you just need to automatically set Assignees or Watchers to a task from any Space, Folder, or List check out the Automation Shortcut menu first.

What you'll need

  • Automation ClickApp must be enabled in your Workspace

  • Guests can't set up Automations

  • All ClickUp Plans include an unlimited number of Automations

  • The number of automated Actions that can be completed per month depends on your Plan:

    • Usage alert emails are sent to owners and admins of Workspaces when an Automations usage is at 90% and again when usage is over 100%

    • Free Forever: 100 Actions / month

    • Unlimited: 1,000 Actions / month

    • Business: 10,000 Actions / month

    • Business Plus: 25,000 Actions / month

    • Enterprise: 250,000 Actions / month

    • Usage limits reset on the first of every month (PST)

  • Business Plans and above can also set up Conditions and add multiple Actions

  • Paid Plans can purchase more Automations

Browse Templates

Browse Automations templates for ways to make your team and workflows more efficient through automation. Templates are stored in the Automations menu and are grouped into categories, like Move, Statuses, and Creation.

You can apply Automations to Spaces, Folders, and Lists. Automations apply to all tasks and subtasks within that location.

  1. Click the Space, Folder, or List in the Sidebar to open that location

  2. Click the Automate button in the top right corner or select Automations from the Settings menu

    • You can also click the ellipsis ... icon and select Automations from the Settings menu

  3. Click the Add automation button to open the Automations modal

  4. Click a category to browse that group of templates

Tip: Know what you want to automate? You can also create a Custom Automation to set whichever Trigger, Conditions, and Actions you want.

Set up an Automations template

When you find the right template, you'll set up Triggers and Actions.

  1. From the Automations modal, select a category from the left menu

  2. Click the template

  3. Complete any information required to enable the Automation

  4. Click Create

  • In this example, we selected the Automations template When Moved to this location Then change status

  • We selected Pending status

  • Now all tasks moved to this location will have a status of Pending
