Release 2.122

ClickUp Whiteboards are officially LIVE!

In Release 2.107, we introduced a new app to the ClickUp platform...Whiteboards! πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨ After months of beta testing and refining the product based on your feedback, we're incredibly excited to announce that ClickUp Whiteboards is officially out of Beta!

Beta Recap βͺ

In Beta, we introduced real-time collaboration, quick-create flowcharts, and a myriad of customizable objects like shapes, sticky notes, and free-hand drawing. πŸ–οΈ Best of all, you can now add tasks directly to your canvas to help bridge the gap between ideation and execution. πŸ™‡

But we're just getting started! We've added some must-haves like an intuitive Object menu that makes it super easy to edit, format, and orient text boxes and shapes πŸ”΅ , and an auto fit-to-screen that brings your Whiteboard into focus so you never get lost on the canvas. 🏳️ However, that's not all - check out more big updates below! πŸŽ‰

[NEW] Turn ideas into action with Convert Object

Have you ever had an amazing brainstorming session, only to see the execution fall flat afterward? It's tough to translate ideas into action across different systems. πŸ₯΄

ClickUp Whiteboards is the only visual collaboration solution that directly connects your ideas to your work. Unlike other Whiteboards, ClickUp can convert shapes, sticky notes, and text into a task with one click. πŸ–±οΈ Say goodbye to screenshots and manually transferring notes into tasks! πŸ‘‹

[NEW] Brainstorm efficiently with free-form Mind Maps

Break down complex ideas and bring structure to them by adding Mind Maps to any Whiteboard! 🧠 For project management, business planning, software development, and more, Mind Maps make it easy to visually organize your ideas into a logical hierarchy that everyone can rally around! πŸ“£ With this latest release, Mind Maps are now ambidextrous 🀲, providing the ability to not only add nodes to the right, but also the the LEFT βͺ.

[NEW] Get started with ease using Templates

Haven't used a digital whiteboard before? Have no fear, templates are here! 🦸 For those new to Whiteboards or for seasoned pros, templates enable your team to move fast, whether they want to run a more efficient Standup πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ, debrief on a recent launch with a Retrospective βŒ›, or brainstorm a new process with a Flow Chart! πŸ’

[NEW] Organize and access Whiteboards in the sidebar

Stay organized with quick access to key Whiteboards right from the sidebar! ⬅️ Just hover over the location where you'd like to add a Whiteboard, click on the plus icon βž•, select New Whiteboard, and voilΓ ...its there! πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨ A new view will be created with your Whiteboard pinned as the very first thing you'll see, making retros, project plans, org charts, and more, hyper accessible. πŸ‘€

This week's highlights:

  • Tuned our data infrastructure to distribute queries more efficiently for better performance πŸ“Ί

  • Reduced long running queries and use-case specific queries to tighten database loading speed πŸ™‹

  • Optimized queries and fixed code defects to reduce database usage during peak hours for greater platform stability⌚

  • Reduced API calls for certain use cases to enhance platform speed πŸ“Ÿ

  • And many more!

Check out our plans for building an even better ClickUp experience, and how we're actively addressing performance and stability as we continue to scale, with words directly from our SVP of Engineering, Shailesh Kumar. 🌻

How we're prioritizing speed & performance while launching new features

Our number one priority at ClickUp this year is optimizing the platform speed, performance, and reliability. However, we also want to keep sprinting towards our mission of saving people

time by making the world more productive! πŸ’»

To ensure we're meeting both of these goals, we've arranged our engineering team into squads so we can continue to ship new time-saving features and improve existing ones while simultaneously optimizing the performance and stability of the entire platform. πŸ’ͺ

We will continue to ship improvements to Whiteboards and other features every week to ensure you're continuing to get more and more value from ClickUp without sacrificing platform reliability. With two dedicated teams, we can do both at the same time! πŸ‘₯

Other Improvements

  • Change the home List for Tasks in Multiple Lists more easily with the Multitask Toolbar by selecting the option to move and re-add tasks to your current List. 🏑

  • Use new quick actions within the Command Center to Copy Link , Open in New Tab , Add to Tray. Simply hover over a task, select an action, and you're off! πŸš€

  • Find what you're looking for more efficiently with filters added to the Command Center. Enter your search term, select an object (Tasks, Docs, Chats, Files, People), and see the associated results! You can also select an object first, then search for maximum utility! πŸ”Ž

  • Toggle on plain text links in settings to paste URLs as plain text with the option to embed or bookmark the URL - no more automatically unfurling your links! πŸ€–

  • Hover over the description icon in a List or Board view to quickly see the detailed task descriptionπŸ•΅οΈ
