Archive or delete a Space

If you don't need a Space anymore, archive them to remove them from the Sidebar, or delete them permanently. Spaces that you archive can still be accessed at searched for at any time.

Deleted Spaces can only be restored from the Trash within 30 days of deletion.

Archive a Space

When you archive a Space, they're hidden in the Sidebar. You can continue to search for items in an archived Space using the Command Center. Items in an archived Space will continue to trigger notifications for assignees and watchers.

To archive a Space:

  1. From the Sidebar, hover over the Space you want to archive.
  2. Click the ellipsis ... icon.
  3. Select Archive. 
  4. From the Archive Space modal, click Archive.
  5. Your Space is removed from the Sidebar. It can be restored at any time.

Temporarily show and search archived Spaces in the Sidebar.

Simple layout

To temporarily show archived Spaces in the Sidebar:

  1. Hover over the Sidebar to display the settings icon at the top.
  2. Click the settings icon to open the Sidebar settings menu.
  3. From the Sidebar settings menu, click Show archived.
  4. All archived Spaces and their items display in the Sidebar. Archived Spaces are italicized and display the archived icon next to them.

Clean layout

To temporarily show archived Spaces in the Sidebar:

  1. From the Sidebar, click any Space.
  2. Hover over the expanded Space sidebar to display the settings icon at the top.
  3. Click the settings icon to open the Sidebar settings menu.
  4. From the Sidebar settings menu, click Show archived.

Modern layout

To temporarily show archived Spaces in the Sidebar:

  1. From the Sidebar, click the Tasks icon.
  2. Hover over the expanded Spaces sidebar to display the settings icon at the top.
  3. Click the settings icon to open the Sidebar settings menu.
  4. From the Sidebar settings menu, click Show archived.

Show archived Spaces using ClickUp 3.0

To temporarily show archived Spaces in the Sidebar using ClickUp 3.0:

Unarchive a Space using ClickUp 2.0

To restore a Space to the Sidebar, you can unarchive it. Unarchiving a Space will restore any Automations that were created for the Space and any Dashboard data connected to the Space.  

From the Sidebar settings:

  1. Hover over the Sidebar to display the settings icon at the top.
  2. Click the settings icon to open the Sidebar settings menu.
  3. From the Sidebar settings menu, click Show archived.
  4. From the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... icon next to the archived Space.
  5. Select Unarchive.

From the Spaces settings:

  1. In the lower-left corner, click your avatar.
  2. Select Spaces.
  3. Select the Archived Spaces tab.
  4. To the right of the Space name, click Restore.

  2. Select My settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Spaces.

  5. To the right of the Space name, click Restore.

Delete a Space using ClickUp 2.0

If you no longer need a Space, you can delete it. Deleted Spaces can only be restored from the Trash within 30 days of deletion.

From the Sidebar settings:

  1. From the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... icon next to the Space.
  2. Select Delete.
  3. In the Remove Space modal, type the Space name to enable the Delete button.
  4. Click Delete.

From the Spaces settings:

  1. In the lower-left corner, click your avatar.
  2. Select Spaces.
  3. Select the Archived Spaces tab.
  4. To the right of the Space name, click Delete permanently.
