Summary
Spend more time on work and less time reading through task descriptions, attachments, and conversations. Summary fields provide a clear, concise overview of your tasks.
Need to view your team backlog without opening tens or hundreds of tasks individually? Use the Summary AI Field in your List views to summarize tasks in your Space, Folder, or List.
When creating the field, you can choose from the following formats:
- Bulleted list: Task summary highlights in a bulleted list.
- Short: A concise task summary.
- Traditional: A detailed, longer task summary.
Progress Updates
Save time searching through tasks and comments for updates. Need to know if your new feature will be complete by its deadline? Use the Progress Updates AI Field to create a progress update for tasks in a Space, Folder, or List.
Progress is estimated based on the stages other similar tasks went through before reaching completion.
When creating the field, you can choose your progress time frame:
- Today
- Yesterday
- This week
- Last 24 hours
- Last 3 days
- Last 7 days
- Last 30 days
You can choose from the following formats:
- Bulleted list: Task progress highlights in a bulleted list.
- Short: A concise task progress update.
- Traditional: A detailed, longer task progress update.
Sentiment
Learn which tasks are going well and which can be improved.
Need to respond to feedback from your support team? Want to take action on gaps that have been identified by your team? Use the Sentiment AI Field in a Space, Folder, or List to gauge task sentiment as positive, neutral, or negative using task descriptions, Custom Fields, and comments.
Translation
Save time switching between apps and translate tasks directly from your views!
Need to translate a support ticket from an international client? Want to translate tasks for a colleague in another country? Use the Translation AI Field to translate task names or descriptions in the Space, Folder, or List.
When creating the field, you can choose to translate the task title or description into one of the following preselected languages:

Action Items

Action items can quickly be copied to your clipboard by hovering over the field and clicking the Copy text icon.
T-Shirt Size
View your estimated workload without switching views or locations in your Workspace! Use the T-Shirt Size AI Field to quickly size tasks in the Space, Folder, and List.
T-shirt sizing is an effective way for agile teams to estimate the effort and size of projects.
T-shirt size is generated using task data and contextual information from its List.
Categorize
Use AI to quickly categorize tasks using the Categorize Dropdown Custom Field.
Need to categorize all the feature requests or bugs in your List? Use the Categorize AI Field so you can spend your time on more important tasks.
When creating a Categorize AI Field, you can leave the instructions area blank and let ClickUp Brain quickly categorize your tasks. Or, you can add more detail by including custom instructions with any of the following field variables:

Create an AI Field
There are several ways to create an AI Field.
From a view
To create an AI Field from any view:
- In any view in the Space, Folder, above the Views Bar click the lightning icon.
- In the AI Autofill section, click Create AI Field.
- From the Create field modal, select the AI Field.
- Customize the field. Customization options can be found below.
- In the lower-right corner, click Create.
From the Custom Field Manager
To create an AI Field from the Custom Field Manager:
- Open the Custom Field Manager.
- From the Custom Field Manager sidebar, select a location.
- Your selected location in the Sidebar determines which location your Custom Field is added to. For example, if you select All Custom Fields or Workspace the new Custom Field will be added at the Workspace level. You can also select a specific Space, Folder, or List.
- In the upper-right corner, click Create new field.
- Search for and select the AI Field.
- Customize the field. Customization options can be found below.
- In the lower-right corner, click Create.
From a List or Table view
To create an AI Field from List view or Table view:
- In the Space, Folder, or List you want to add the Custom Field, open the List or Table view.
- In the upper-right corner above the task table, click the plus icon.
- Search for and select the AI Field.
- Customize the field. Customization options can be found below.
- In the lower-right corner, click Create.
From a task
To create an AI Field from a task:
- In the List where you want to add the Custom Field, open a task.
- Scroll down to the Custom Fields section and click the plus icon in the upper-right corner of the table.
- Select Create field.
- Search for and select the AI Field.
- Customize the field. Customization options can be found below.
- In the lower-right corner of the modal, click Create.
From a Text or Dropdown Custom Field
When creating a Text, Text area (Long Text), or Dropdown Custom Field:
- Enable Fill with AI.
- Customize the field. Customization options can be found below.
- In the lower-right corner of the modal, click Create.

Manual AI Fields
Clicking the AI icon on a field to generate content for tasks counts as a manual AI Field.
Use of manual AI Fields depends on your ClickUp plan and whether you're in an AI trial or you've purchased one of the AI add-ons. Learn more
Automated AI Fields
The following actions count as automated AI Fields:
- Bulk-generating AI Fields by clicking the AI Field's column header.
- Autofill when tasks are created: Generate content for new tasks automatically. This AI Field Automation is activated by default.
- Auto refresh when tasks update: Every 20 minutes, AI Fields that have been updated will be refreshed.
- Autofill existing tasks: Generate content for all existing tasks. This AI Field Automation is only available at the List level.

Generate AI Fields
Generate content using AI Fields.
Generate individual AI Fields
In List or Table view, click the AI button to the right of the task to generate content for it.
To manually generate content from a task:
- From the Custom Fields table in the lower-left corner, hover over the AI Field.
- Click the AI button to generate content for it.
Bulk-generate AI Fields
Bulk-generate up to 200 AI Fields at the same time.
To bulk-generate AI Fields in List or Table view, click the AI button in the AI Field's column header. Subtasks are included if you are using the Expand all or As separate tasks option in your view.
Edit results or regenerate AI Fields
After generating an AI Field, click the content to edit the results, retry the request, or leave feedback using the options below the content.
Edit AI Field prompts
Edit an AI Field prompt from List view, Table view, or tasks.
List or Table view
To edit an AI Field's prompt from List or Table view:
- Click the AI Field's column header.
- Select Edit field.
- In the Tell AI how to fill out this field section, update the prompt.
- To save your changes, click anywhere outside the edit menu.
Task
To edit an AI Field's prompt from a task:
- From the Custom Fields table in the lower-left corner, hover over the AI Field.
- Click the pencil icon.
- In the Tell AI how to fill out this field section, update the prompt.
- To save your changes, click anywhere outside the edit menu.
Copy AI Field generations
Copy AI Field generations to your clipboard by hovering over the AI Field and clicking the Copy text icon.
Regenerate AI Fields
Regenerate AI Fields by clicking the AI icon next to the column header in List or Table view.
Ask AI about AI Fields
Once you've generated content for an AI Field, you can ask ClickUp AI more about it:
- Click the AI Field content.
- Select Ask more.

Hide an AI Field from guests

You can use AI Fields as Triggers or Conditions in Automations!
You won't receive Inbox notifications when AI Field Automations fire.

- In the Space, Folder, or List, click the AI Field's header.
- Select Create automation.
- In the Automations modal, complete your Automation.

You can add an existing AI Field to a new location in the same way you would any Custom Field.

Values to set
- Likely to close: Strong indicators the deal is on track and moving toward closure.
- Uncertain/Needs follow-up: Some interest, but follow-ups or internal alignment is needed.
- Unlikely to close: Strong signals the deal is not progressing or is a poor fit.
Use the examples below as guidance and return only one of the three options above as your final answer.
Likely to close
Assign this value if:
- The customer has shown clear interest and is moving forward in the sales process.
- Buying signals are present, like pricing discussions, contract requests, and timeline confirmation.
- There is clear alignment across stakeholders or decision makers.
- Demos and meetings received positive feedback with few or no objections.
- No major technical or compliance blockers are present.
Example signals:

Uncertain/Needs follow-up
Assign this value if:

- There is potential, but the deal could go either way based on next actions.
- Internal process on the customer’s side is delaying progress.

- “Mixed feedback on features; some positive, some concerns.”
Unlikely to close
Assign this value if:
- The customer has signaled the deal will not move forward.
- There are major blockers, like missing core features, compliance issues, or low engagement.
- Feedback is strongly negative or indicates a poor fit.
- The deal has stalled, gone cold, or the customer has chosen another tool.
- There’s little to no follow-up interest despite outreach.
Example signals:

Based on the selected value in the Deal Likelihood field, along with the task description and any linked comments or notes, provide a concise summary explaining why that value was chosen.
Use the criteria below to guide your reasoning
If the value is “Likely to close”:
- Mention strong buying signals, like pricing discussions or contract reviews.
- Reference positive feedback on demos.
- Highlight stakeholder alignment or short closing timelines.
If the value is “Uncertain/Needs follow-up”:
- Call out blockers like budget, timing, unclear internal alignment, or pending evaluations.
- Mention mixed or neutral feedback.
- Note slower communication or open questions.
If the value is “Unlikely to close”:
- Indicate major blockers, like missing features, compliance issues, or strong objections.
