You can view all Custom Fields in your Workspace or browse the Custom Fields available at each level of your Workspace hierarchy.
Using Custom Field Manager you can:
- Click All Custom Fields to view all Custom Fields available in your Workspace.
- Use the Sidebar to browse your Workspace Hierarchy. Click the Workspace name, Space, Folder, or List to view the available Custom Fields for each location.

Custom Fields are inherited through the Hierarchy. For example, if you create a Custom Field at the Space level, it will be available in all Lists and Folders created in that Space.

What you'll need
- Owners and admins can access the Custom Field Manager.
- Members and guests with the Manage Custom Fields Custom Permission can access Custom Field Manager.
- Custom Field Manager is available on all ClickUp plans.
- The options to merge and move Custom Fields are available on the Enterprise Plan.
Search, filter, group, and sort Custom Fields
You can find specific Custom Fields using the following options in the Custom Field Manager:
- Search: You can search for Custom Fields by name.
- Filter: View Custom Fields that meet specific criteria, including:
- Created by: Select one or more people to see the Custom Fields they created. Use the is not operator to see Custom Fields that were not created by the selected people.
- Location: View Custom Fields that exist in specific Spaces, Folders, or Lists. Use the is not operator to see Custom Fields that are not in the selected location.
- Field Type: Filter by Custom Field type. Use the is not operator to see Custom Fields that are not the selected type.
- Visibility: View Custom Fields that are private or public.
- Group: You can group Custom Fields by Custom Field type, as well as collapse and expand each group.
- Sort: Sort Custom Fields by the name, visibility, or pinned column headings in ascending or descending order. You can only sort by one column at a time.
Search
From the Custom Field Manager:
- Click All Custom Fields or select a specific location using the Sidebar.
- In the top-right corner, click Search fields.
- Enter the name of a Custom Field.
- As you type, Custom Fields that match your search term will display.
Filter
From the Custom Field Manager:
- Click All Custom Fields or select a specific location using the Sidebar.
- In the top-left corner, click Filter.
- Set your Filter options.
- The table of Custom Fields will display tasks that match your filter criteria.
Group
From the Custom Field Manager:
- Click All Custom Fields or select a specific location using the Sidebar.
- Click Group By and select Field Type.
- Collapse and expand each group by clicking on the group heading.
Sort
From the Custom Field Manager:
- Click All Custom Fields or select a specific location using the Sidebar.

Click a column heading to sort fields by the values in that column.
Sorting is not available for the Locations and Created By columns.
- Click the column heading again to switch between ascending and descending order.
- The list of Custom Fields will display tasks in the selected sort order.
- Click the column heading a third time to remove sorting from that column.
Pin a Custom Field
By default, Custom Fields are hidden on tasks until you set them. You can pin a Custom Field so that it always appears on tasks even when the field is empty.
Using Custom Field Manager you can:
- Check the box in the Pinned column.
- Or when editing a Custom Field, check the Pinned checkbox under Settings.
