Add new or existing tasks and subtasks to Sprints! Easily move a task to a new List or add it to another List without opening the task. You can also use the Bulk Action Toolbar to quickly move or add multiple tasks.
What you'll need
- Sprints are available on every ClickUp plan.
- Everyone, including guests, can add tasks to sprints.
- Guests must have edit or full permissions to the task they are moving.
- Guests must have full permissions to the sprint.
- To add tasks to sprints while retaining their original locations, an admin or owner must first enable the Task in Multiple Lists ClickApp.

Move or add tasks to sprints from views
You can move or add tasks to sprints from any List, Board, or Calendar view. You can either:
- Remove the task from its original List.
- Or keep the task in its original List.
To move a task to a sprint and remove it from its original List:
- Open a List, Board, or Calendar view.
- Right-click a task.
- You can also hover over a task and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Move.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and removed from its original List.
Using Automations:
- Create an Automation at the Space, Folder, or List.
- Use the Move to List Action.
- Uncheck the Move and keep in current List checkbox.
- Create your Automation.
- Tasks triggered by the Automation will be added to the sprint and removed from their original Lists.
There are three ways to add a task to a sprint while keeping it in its original List.
From the Add to option:
- Open a List, Board, or Calendar view.
- Right-click a task.
- You can also hover over a task and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Add to.
- Select Add to another List.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and remain in its original location.
From the Move option:
- Right-click a task.
- You can also hover over a task and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Move.
- Check the Move and keep in current List checkbox at the bottom of the search modal.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and remain in its original location.
Using Automations:
- Create an Automation at the Space, Folder, or List.
- Use the Move to List Action.
- Check the Move and keep in current List checkbox.
- Create your Automation.
- Tasks triggered by the Automation will be added to the sprint and remain in their original locations.
Move or add multiple tasks to a sprint
You can move or add one or more tasks to a sprint using the Bulk Action Toolbar.
To move one or more tasks to a sprint and remove them from their original List:
- In List view, hover to the left of the tasks you want to move and click the selector button.
- At the top, click the Move tasks button on the Bulk Action Toolbar.
- At the bottom of the Move tasks modal, uncheck the Move and keep in current List checkbox.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- All selected tasks will be added to the sprint and removed from their original List.
To add one or more tasks to a sprint while keeping them in their original List:
- In List view, hover to the left of the tasks you want to move and click the selector button.
- At the top, click the Move tasks button on the Bulk Action Toolbar.
- At the bottom of the Move tasks modal, check the Move and keep in current List checkbox.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- All selected tasks will be added to the sprint and remain in their original locations.

Move or add tasks to a sprint using Task view.
Task view 3.0 has introduced a new UI for adding tasks to sprints! The following sections have instructions for each Task view version.
Task view 2.0
There are two ways to move a task to a sprint from Task view 2.0 and remove them from their original List.
From task breadcrumbs:
- Open a task.
- In the upper-left, click the Move task icon.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and removed from its original List.
From the ellipsis ... menu:
- Open a task.
- From the top next to the Share button, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Move.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and removed from its original List.
There are two ways to add a task to a sprint while retaining its original location from Task view 2.0.
From task breadcrumbs:
- Open a task.
- In the upper-left, hover over the breadcrumb section.
- Click the + button to add the task to another List.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and remain in its original location.
From the ellipsis ... menu:
- Open a task.
- At the top, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Add to.
- Select Add to another List.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and remain in its original location.
Task view 3.0
There are two ways to move a task to a sprint from Task view 3.0 and remove it from its original List.
From task breadcrumbs:
- Open a task.
- In the upper-left, hover over the breadcrumbs.
- Click the Move task icon.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and removed from its original List.
From the ellipsis ... menu:
- Open a task.
- In the upper-right, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Move.
- Locate and select the sprint.
- The task will be added to the sprint and removed from its original List.

Move or add tasks to the current sprint
You can move or add tasks to the current sprint if the following conditions are met:
- The tasks are located in a Sprint Folder.
- They can be saved in a List or another sprint within the Sprint Folder.
- There is a sprint in the Folder that's marked In Progress.
- The current date is between the start and end date of the sprint.
Move or add tasks and subtasks to the current sprint in views
You can move or add tasks and subtasks to the current sprint from List, Board, or Calendar view.
To move a task from an older sprint to the current sprint and remove it from its original location:
- Open List, Board, or Calendar view.
- Right-click a task or subtask.
- You can also hover over a task or subtask and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Move.
- Select Move to Current Sprint.
- The task will be moved to the current sprint and removed from its original location.
To add a task from an older sprint to the current sprint while retaining its original location:
- Open List, Board, or Calendar view.
- Right-click a task or subtask.
- Alternatively, hover over a task or subtask and click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Add to.
- Select Add to Current Sprint.
- The task will be moved to the current sprint and remain in its original location.
Move or add multiple tasks to the current sprint
You can move or add multiple tasks to the current sprint using the Bulk Action Toolbar.
To move one or more tasks to the current sprint and remove it from its original location:
- In List view, hover to the left of the tasks you want to move and click the selector button.
- At the top, click the Move tasks button on the Bulk Action Toolbar.
- Click Move to Current Sprint.
- All selected tasks will be added to the sprint and removed from their original location.
To add one or multiple tasks to the current sprint while retaining their original locations:
- In List view, hover to the left of the tasks you want to move and click the selector button.
- At the top, click the Move tasks button on the Bulk Action Toolbar.
- Click Add to Current Sprint.
- All selected tasks will be added to the sprint and remain in their original locations.
