Created a task by accident? Want to permanently delete an old task or one that is no longer needed?

Deleting a task sends it to the Trash.

\n

Deleted tasks remain in Trash for 30 days before being permanently deleted.

\n

Deleting a task in multiple Lists deletes it from all Lists.

\n

Time entries are permanently deleted when a task is deleted. A warning is displayed before deleting a task with time entries.

\n

Delete tasks in ClickUp

\n

There are three ways to delete tasks within ClickUp:

Delete a task from Task view\n

\n

To delete a task from Task view:

  1. Click the ellipsis ... in the upper right.
    2. \n
  2. Click Delete.
    3. \n
\n

Delete a task with the Bulk Action Toolbar\n

\n

  1. Hover over a task and click the task selector.
    2. \n
  2. Select each task you want to delete.
    3. \n
  3. Select the trash icon on the right side of the Bulk Action Toolbar.

Delete a task from List, Board, or Calendar view

  1. Open a view.
    2. \n
  2. Right-click on a task to reveal the Task Action Menu.
    3. \n
  3. Click Delete.
    4. \n
\n

View deleted tasks

Workspace members have access to items that they have deleted, but admins and owners can see all items in the Trash.

\n

To view the trash:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click your Workspace avatar.
    2. \n
  2. Select Settings.
    3. \n
  3. In the left sidebar, click Trash.
    4. \n
\n

If you don't want to delete tasks, you can hide them by closing or archiving.

\n

Close a task

\n

You can close a task and view it later by clicking Show Closed in List view or using a filter to show closed tasks in a view.

\n

Archive a task

\n

You can archive the task from the task settings, which will remove it from the view entirely.

\n

Once archived, you can show that task later by showing all archived tasks from your Home Sidebar and Spaces Sidebar.

You can also archive and unarchive Spaces, Folders, Subfolders, and Lists as well!
