{"article":{"id":23065966338711,"url":"https://clickup.zendesk.com/api/v2/help_center/en-us/articles/23065966338711.json","html_url":"https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/23065966338711-Create-a-task-from-a-Doc-or-wiki","author_id":1528086347822,"comments_disabled":false,"draft":false,"promoted":false,"position":4,"vote_sum":0,"vote_count":0,"upvote_count":0,"downvote_count":0,"section_id":5414415869463,"created_at":"2024-04-25T22:42:26Z","updated_at":"2026-10-04T00:49:21Z","name":"Create a task from a Doc or wiki","title":"Create a task from a Doc or wiki","source_locale":"en-us","locale":"en-us","outdated":false,"outdated_locales":[],"edited_at":"2026-09-21T05:29:11Z","user_segment_id":null,"permission_group_id":4416814155671,"content_tag_ids":[],"label_names":[],"body":"<p>Use the Doc toolbar to quickly create a task from a Doc or a wiki.</p>\n<h1>What you'll need</h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Docs and wikis are available on <a href=\"https://clickup.com/pricing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">every ClickUp plan</a>.</li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6310022323991-Guests-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guests</a> can't create Docs or wikis.</li>\n<li>Docs and wikis created in <a href=\"https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6325235685655-Docs-Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Docs Hub</a> are private by default on our Business Plan and up.</li>\n<li>Free Forever and Business Plans can create one wiki per Workspace.</li>\n<li>Business Plus Plans can create unlimited wikis.</li>\n</ul>\n<h1>Create a task</h1>\n<p>To create a task from a Doc or wiki:</p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the open Doc or wiki, highlight some text.</li>\n<li>On the toolbar, click the dropdown next to <strong>+ Task</strong>.</li>\n<li>From the dropdown, select <strong>+ Task</strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>By default, the task is created in your current location.</li>\n<li>If your Doc or wiki is saved in Docs Hub, you'll need to select a location for the new task.</li>\n<li>To select a new location, in the <strong>Create</strong> modal click the current location name.</li>\n<li>Set any <a href=\"https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6303670304919-Manage-Custom-Fields\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">required Custom Fields</a>.</li>\n<li>You can also rename the task, and add other details like Assignee.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Click <strong>Create</strong>.</li>\n</ol>","user_segment_ids":[]}}
